Afternoon folks, had a good day today. Visited Bestie and had a long chat which was lovely and then came home and sowed my first ever veg seeds in the raised beds. Carrots, Radish, Spring Onions and Lettuce. Fleece cover is at the ready so hopefully they will be OK. As an added bonus it's sunny and warmish out there.
Good afternoon . It’s been a gorgeous day .Spent several hours in the garden , potting ,planting and tidying . Tired now but enjoyed being outside .Hazel you will be so pleased to get a hairdressers appointment . It will feel like a treat . Yvie good luck with your first sowing .I hope that you have lots of lovely veg in summer .
Hello all. I've been in the garden virtually all afternoon too. Had a lovely chat with my next door neighbours. It was just so nice to be outdoors and checking on all the growing things. Glad you've got your hair appointment Hazel. I made sure I got mine booked after I have my hair colour done.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I am going to say goodnight one and all and here is a picture taken today of two goldfinches on my bird feeder in the front garden. They were a joy to watch.

@bluebellsinthewild so sorry you haven't found your ring yet, I do hope it turns up. @Ladybird4 and @Songbird-1 no OH hasn't heard about his next appointment yet. I think we should perhaps give them a call. We were only talking about it the other day that he hasn't heard anything yet. I'm hoping I get some sleep tonight, I've stayed up as long as possible and im just about staying awake at the moment. So I'll say goodnight too. Sleep well everyone sweet dreams.
I stumbled across an unopened bag of birdseed, must have been from my last attempt at opening an 'outdoor cafe'. So, feeling generous I nipped out and poured a pile on our feeder. Later I realised why I'd stopped putting food out. Pigeons, eating like there was no tomorrow.
Good morning all. LB we get lots of goldies here on the sunflower hearts and Niger seeds they are lovely little birds aren’t they?
Up early to sort recycling then off to work this has been a long week.
We heard yesterday that all holidays in future will be covered “in branch” ie no relief staff, this means I and the 3 other part timers will be expected to do more hours which isn’t going down well with any of us. I foresee lots of issues. What fun!
Supposed to be sunny so hope you all have a lovely day planned
Good morning @Mrs-B3-Southampton,-Hants and Debs. Yes Mrs B3 pigeons can be a pain but they cannot manage with the feeders. They and the pheasants just glean underneath for discarded seeds thrown out by the smaller birds. I've had to change my plans for today as my Bestie is taking her Mum to the Doctor's so I'll be able to get into my garden again. Debs, I hope the work issues don't cause too much stress.

Those are lovely daffs there LB. They are my favourite flowers.
We have 2 wood pigeons who nest in a conifer tree next door. I have fondly named them Howard and Hilda. They are fascinating to watch. At the moment they are nest building so there is lots of comings and goings from the tree. They perch on our tree and do their singly cooing.
Mr PurpleRose got his text yesterday for his covid jab. He is booked in at lunchtime at the local Rugby Club which is about a 15 minute walk from our house. He got his text yesterday afternoon but waited until I got in from work to book it so we could go together. I didn't get my text so I told him to book it as I do not wanting him hanging on for me then not getting it if there is a shortage from the beginning of next week.
I have got a load of towels in the washing machine. Looks like it will be a good drying day.
