Is there any truth in the idea that lilies prefer Ericaceous soil? I have a bag left over from my camellia rescue operation ( it was 3 for 2 I can’t resist a bargain)
Morning everyone Lovely photos. Slept through the night again. 🤗 Looks very chilly outside this morning, very breezy. And raining too. I love lillies, @debs64 have never had a go at growing them though. I had some for mother's day and they are still going strong. Time for another cup of tea. Have a good day everyone.
Debs we are the same with the rain forcast. It is cloudy and there is a breeze but so far no rain.
Hot my covid jab at 9 so going in my way to work. I told the manager that I would be a bit late as I was getting my jab and he told me not to rush to work or worry about being late. Mr PR got his jab yesterday lunchtime. Last night he said he felt cold but this morning he has the shivers. He has dosed up with paracetamol and I told him to keep hydrated. I will keep him in tea this afternoon when I get in. My friend went last night after work and she said it was very busy with a lot of people going on spec. She got her card and realised when she left that she had not got a sticker but couldn't face going back. I am going to see if I can get a spare sticker for her when I go.
Hello all later arrivals. Debs, lilies like ericaceous soils so you are in luck! Yes, Debs, lily beetles are a menace. Its a good job that, as adults, they are bright red in colour so it is easy for us to spot the little beggars. Good luck with your jab PR. Just to cheer you all up - its hissing down here! Boo!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Morning all. Raining here so Gabriel is singing nursery rhymes indoors while Jonah is at school. Frost forecast tonight so get those seedlings and tender plants under cover.
Raining now so not able to get into the garden, instead I was just looking at a scented yellow rhododendron I have been coveting and lo and behold, a couple of clicks and it’s on the way! I am calling it an 🐣 Easter present to myself.
Sorry the grape hyacinths made you jump Hazel! Yvie, I hope that you are joining in with the nursery rhymes. I used to love doing that with my great nieces and nephews - and teaching them new ones. I've got my fleece ready for tonight Debs - just in case. Unfortunately my camellia is too large and I just know that if we have a severe frost the blooms that are out now will end up looking like tea bags.
I do admire your style in Easter present buying . Mine is covered in big fat flower buds so I'll post a pic when they emerge. Their scent is knockout!

LB very naughty I know but I am looking for yellow plants for the patio, I am having a yellow white and purple theme and I love anything highly scented. Never been a rhododendron fan but after I discovered that poorly specimen in the overgrown bit of garden and have managed with care to bring it back to life I feel more fondly towards them. I got it from Millais nursery which has good reviews. Fingers crossed 🤞. Would love to see pictures of yours.
Chive a lovely goodnight picture of Nel. PR hope the jab goes well. LB a sunny day here. I think Alfie’s probably played with my ring but to no avail. Lily I hope you’re feeling better after having a rest. Hazel I hope you’re having a good day. Yvie enjoy growing your vegetables. Have a good day everyone.
