The only people we have had in our house over the past year is the chimney sweep and a chap to look at a window! We will keep it like that for the foreseeable while the numbers are so high and not a jab in sight.

Aren't trees ... particularly evergreens, architecture in 'gardening speak' .... and the shape of beds and borders and the way a space is laid out ......... that's always been my assumption  :)

That's my understanding (limited as it is!) Trees and shrubs form the "shape" of the garden, the sightlines, the hidden sections along with the built structure. They also form the backdrop against which the planting can shine.
I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

    Good morning all.
Horrendous wind last night. I had to go shut a gate at 4am.

I think "structure" is along way down the line for this new garden unless you count the backdrop of the ruins (old farmhouse) and the barns (now roofless).   Not rushing in to anything as original thoughts and ideas have changed as we discover what the soil is like in different places plus the impact of droughts here.

There will be colour!  And form, but not "rooms" or claustrophobic hedges.

The only people who've been inside our house for the last year are chappy who came to fix the washing machine and insurance expert and roof man in December.   I saw some patchwork friends twice over summer in Les Sables but on a sunny, open air terrace with spacing and a fresh breeze.  I saw @D0rdogne_Damsel and co last October when restaurants were open and I saw 3 patch friends a couple of weeks ago for coffee and chat in a large, airy room with a very high ceiling and fresh air.

Can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to being sociable again and just chatting with folk, let alone having a coffee when out or going for a meal.  Dance class, patch and mosaic too and garden visits with the club.

It's filthy out there today so, as predicted, an indoor pottering sort of day here.

Sorry you're feeling low @punkdoc.  Have a big fat virtual Obxx hug.

You can have all my share of running miles @Biglad and anyone else who's got their running shoes out.  I'll stick to dance class - when we can - and walkies, knee permitting.

Hope Casper finds a good home @Busy-Lizzie   Sounds like he's in need of some loving and company.

    Stay safe and warm everyone.

Yay 😁😁😁. If you react like me then don’t plan anything for the next couple of days .....not bad in the grand scheme of things, but bed and the sofa seemed more appealing than anything else on offer 🤣

We are worn out, so it’s early to bed for us.  Son and Pixel are returning to Canberra tomorrow.  Even though it’s lovely to have him visit, it’s very tiring with trying to be chatty and meal preparations. Hubby has done all the cooking. Pickled pork last night and a Pork ribs roast tonight. Feeling rather full of food now.

Thinking about Punkdoc and hoping he feels a bit better soon.  Glad Hosta had his COVID shot. There’s no talk of any of us around here getting it yet, but so far we haven’t any instances of it in the district. Fingers crossed it’ll stay that way.

    Night everyone
