Good morning @Biglad and @tuikowhai34 and others to follow. Bad news about the bike shed @Biglad, although I have some sympathy with your OH; being on the end of the phone with two people speaking at the same time on the other end never works for me either - clear written instruction work so much better.
I hope your nettles are not as bad as mine were @tuikowhai34 although pulling great lengths of roots, sometimes multiple ones is very satisfying. It is a sign of good soil too.
I have to go and order the new floor covering this morning in Limoges (an hour's trip out) but then I am hoping to spend the rest of the day in the garden. It is forecast to rain from Wednesday for about 4 days so I feel like I have to get as much done as possible, the speed in which spring is arriving is tangible and there are some things that just need to get done before it's too late.
Good news on the diet though, barrowing tons of soil across from one bed to another is obviously great exercise, I have lost another kg this week, now officially at my target weight, although I have decided to keep at it and try and give myself some 'wiggle room'. Actually, the healthy eating is quite good really, it's just the evening apero and wine with dinner I miss most.
Anyway, good day to all

In my defence @D0rdogne_Damsel, I wasn't consulted about the impulse purchase until I overheard the phone call, ran outside with my tape measure, back in to tell her and then back to work.
By the time she was off the phone the van was on the way with the dismantled shed in the back
And guess who spent all of last Sunday building and painting it?

Btw, has anyone got any experience of growing Chocolate Cosmos, I think I like it, but when I tried to order it it's rather expensive, which is fine if it survives and flowers well, but not if it doesn't.
Grateful for any experiences.

Good morning. Bright and sunny here but only just above freezing. I don't like gardening in heavy layers any more but maybe it'll be better this pm.
I've grown chocolate cosmos and been underwhelmed @D0rdogne_Damsel. It never smelled of chocolate and was a wuss about winters so I only once go it thru a winter despite sheltering the pot from frosts. It's sterile so of no use to pollinators and you have to take cuttings to increase it. I'd stick with dark dahlias if I were you. They have a much stronger will to live and flower.
Your rhubarb and a blackcurrant should be fine @Biglad especially if you give them lots of horse muck.
I need more coffee I think and then some work on my new table top. I hope everyone's OK and all aches, pains, illnesses and worries are easing.

Morning all, in spite of being up for an hour, I am still in dressing gown tea in hand. I need to get to plots as the new beds seem to be taking forever. Part of the problem is I don't want to keep leaving my OH on her own all day. She doesn't complain at all but I am aware that she's finding this second long lockdown very hard.
I am doing short stints that is what is slowing me down. It's not helping that I seem to be getting slower at jobs too. She loves the garden here but the Allotment is very cold and exposed at this time of year, the paths have been a sea of mud with all the wet. She has come but again I feel obliged to make the visit short when she's with me. Maybe I'm being overprotective.

The blackcurrants are due in a week or two but I'm off out to get the rhubarb in now. Darkest corner for that!
