I've been busy clearing the new space for the raised bed (with the help of OH).  We've removed the gravel and lifted the membrane. He is going to loosen up the compacted earth underneath and then once the bed has been built and placed we can fill it up with the lovely veggie compost I've ordered.  We have repainted the fence in that area too.
Managed to plant a few primroses, some ferns and a pulmonaria.  I'm flopping now with a cuppa and a choccie biscuit.

    Sounds like a busy morning @Yviestevie 😀.  Lovely witch hazel @Lizzie27. 😍

just in for lunch, then back out for part 2.  I agree with DD- it’s that time of year when I can’t bear to miss a moment of dry weather .....there’s so much to do 😱

Five more to plant, come in for a cup of tea. Next job will be cardboard and mulch.

Gorgeous day here so I've been V busy. Cut back grasses and some overgrown evergreens.
Nice to be able to work outdoors until after 5pm.

Wow @Busy-Lizzie  Nice job!  How's your back?

You have the same sky as I have here.  Cheers
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • Thanks all for the feedback on chocolate cosmos, I think I'll give them a miss this year. I was just looking for something a bit different to set off all the orange and reds in my hotbed.

Great work @Busy-Lizzie, definitely a lady on a mission. 😁

Gone suddenly chilly here, and guess what, the oil has run out! 🙄

Thank you. In the future the bed will hide the garden from the road and make a better view from the kitchen window, hiding the washing line.
My back isn't too bad, it must be getting used to it, but knees are a bit stiff. Just 2 shrubs to plant now and a clematis Montana, Broughton Star, in a different place.

Son 1 has invited me for lunch tomorrow  :)

Oh dear @DOrdogne_Damsel, not what you need in cold weather. Hope you have  some alternative heating.
    It's looking good @Busy-Lizzie.
Thanks @chicky, it's Aprodite, not Jelena as I had thought. Now about ten years old.
    Exciting times @Yviestevie.
    Steady onHostafan.
It turned warmer by 2.30 so got out and completed a small project I'dhad in mind for a while

Evening. You have been busy bees.

After shopping I had a good potter in the garden, sowed the first sitting of seeds, added brown stuff to compost, and generally bumbled around. Cold out of the sun though.
Still milling over whether to retire the old leggy Lavender by the patio door... but I did decide that I will retire a Hebe to make room for some new Lavenders (last year’s cuttings) as they will thrive at the back of the patio in full sun.

    Just making a curry now.

Take care all and no more injuries or aches!
My garden and I live in South Wales.
