@Latimer aren't you? I will have to change my mental image of you
    Morning all.

@Pat E when I saw your first post I thought you were having the vaccine.

@Nanny Beach, if you don't understand something about the smartphone then ask Google, taught me a lot. When you want to answer the phone swipe the green phone symbol. I was stuck for ages because I thought you had to tap it.

A woman and her son (adult) are coming to see Caesar the donkey, belongs to previous owner of this house, today. If she doesn't think he is suitable to be a friend then someone else, who I met before about livery for my old horses, says she would like Caesar as company for her donkey.

Heavy rain and wind are forecast for today.

  • Good morning all,

It's been said before I'm sure but the mental images we conjure up of each other are probably wildly wrong. 😅 However, I'm happy to keep thinking of us  all as beautiful, super fit 27 year olds. 😁

A couple of staff over for lunch today, not seen them since October. Thought we ought to have a bit of a catch up. They won't recognise the place. 😅

Managed to spread 3/4s of my mulch yesterday evening, so nice the evenings are a bit longer. Lovely to have so much to play with and for free too ( well free if you don't count the cost of the tree lopping)
    Garden definitely looking tidier.

Right, Mexican wings to marinade and a chilli con carne to make. Black Forest Meringue Roulade already done. 😋

Have a good day all. 🙂

Sorry you’re struggling @punkdoc.  Hope there will be better times ahead for you.  Only a fortnight and it will still be light at 7.30pm.....that’s something to look forward to in my book 😎😎😎

Hope your cantankerous donkey finds a new home soon @Busy-Lizzie.  Not a runner here, but am about to embark on Zumba in my living room.  I leave the curtains closed so as not to alarm the postman 😜.

Foul weather out there.  Sowed lots of seeds, and pricked a few more out yesterday.  Just been out on my morning GH tour, only to discover that “someone” (🙄) turned my heat mat off when he was recharging his drill/screwdriver thing last week.  Its back on again now - hope a week of chilly bottoms won’t inhibit germination of some of my treasures 😳.

Desperate to get out there and prune my buddleja - but think it might be best to have an admin day instead.

BTW Treated myself to Sarah Raven’s new book, A Year Full of Flowers and it is brilliant.  Can’t put it down, and am bursting to try out some of her ideas 💡🌸🌼🌷

Another BTW ..... keep meaning to say to the peeps in France ......you have no idea how good it sounds to hear you say “I’m having people over for lunch” or “I’m going to x’s for lunch”.  I haven’t had anyone inside my house, or been in anyone else’s house for a over year now (apart from a very brief spell last summer when we were allowed to migrate from my Dad’s garden to his kitchen if we opened all the windows).  I miss it so much.  I hope I never take something so simple for granted again.

So enjoy @D0rdogne_Damsel 🍽🍽☕️🍰...set an extra space because I’ll be there in spirit 😀😀😀

@chicky just downloaded a sample of the Sarah Raven book, it looks beautiful, the photography is lovely!! Would you say it's good for beginners?

@latimer I’d say so - its full of inspirational descriptions and pictures of what she does every month, and then each month has a practical section which is a step by step guide.  Its all about flowers though .....you’d need to go somewhere else for tips on design and structure.

One of my favourite quotes so far “I remember a designer friend saying gardens had to work in black and white, that they were only ‘good’ if they had strong bones and architectural form all through the year.  Colour was froth, a temporary distraction, and should be the least of one’s priorities.  I felt cowed at the time, aware that this was the opposite of the garden I was making.”  Love it ❤️💚🧡💙💛💜

Thanks @chicky, might not be the one for me at the moment then, as I'm still at that skeleton stage!!

My new garden won't have architectural form @chicky, it will have flowers and flowering shrubs. I have visited Peter Beales Classic Roses garden and Bressingham several times and, apart from the pergolas at PB's there isn't much architecture. It's all about plants.

We can have people to lunch but the Covid figures in France aren't good and the vaccine is very behind.
