@Tack, hmm, I see what you mean, never actually seen a photo of standard rose on a umbrella structure in winter, maybe better viewed from afar rather than right next to your patio. Yes I gravitated towards the yellow/orange spectrum too @Marlorena, but I am planning a climbing rose border in those colours so that’s forefront in my mind! More on that later...

I hadn't ever noticed Morning Mist @Mr. Vine Eye, nice thing but maybe not disease resistant enough. @Marlorena I have always fancied TLA but it's been too big for my purpose up to now, DA has it at 5x5ft but at 8ft that is interesting...
Out of Stock , so have pondering time.

Thank you everyone for your help. I have spent a very happy few hours and been introduced to some fabulous looking roses.

@Athelas, just a heads up, my White Flower Carpet rose is anything but, probably now at least 1m x 1m if not more, so your pretty plant support is likely to get lost soon. I speak from experience as I have five roses in rusty metal rose baskets and it's a devil of a job to prune them low down if you have to.
My Pink Flower Carpet rose is even bigger........

Thanks @Lizzie27, yes that particular one in the photo is the middle plant in a row of three and somehow it has remained quite small and slow to catch up — hoping this will be the year it takes off. The other two Flower Carpets (on either side) have grown bigger with one about 1x1 like yours, and the other an in-between size, so I have a rather lopsided rose hedge 😂

Its stems last year used to flop around on the ground hence the support, but that’s a good point. They are quite thorny!

Hi @Ffoxglove was just back reading posts, alot of posts, and saw you asked about some you had bought.
I have Sheila Perfumed a very pretty rose with a medium perfume. It has an upright habit,  doesn't flop around and takes pruning well. It's only down point is its prone to blackspot, but as I don't mind that , it's done well for me.

I have just ordered 4 more DA bare roots in their end of season sale.

These are Generous Gardener and Falstaff bare roots that I planted in Nov

Seems like the new ones will have a lot of catching up to do. I hope they will be up to it...

@Marlorena, that Lark Ascending looks wonderful, I considered this for my new bed but it is just too big
