Just been to the plot, unfortunately no one else was there! So no numbers. This is going to be a very long drawn out thing I can tell....

Nice things though - first signs of life in the pond 😁

Wonder how tadpoles get into them. Do we introduce them or do they find the spot somehow?

  • @cooldoc2000 - It doesn't take long for creatures to find water. Eventually frogs will move in hopefully.

I like the look of your 'Snow Ballet' @edhelka
.. did you get it from TCL?  I've never heard of it, so had to look it up.. interesting rose..

... nice set of pruning pics... @Perki... and Mr Vine's earlier...
.. I think you deal with yours similar to how I do it.. the lighter touch... and yeah, no gloves... we should but we can't, I find them impossible to work with...

...my first seedling appeared today from a few hips I sowed before the cold spell... maybe a photo tomorrow..  the hips are from 'Tottering by Gently'...

@Perki How healthy is your Golden Celebration compared to others?

@Marlorena Yes, from TCL for 4 euros :D
It is a small ground cover rose. The plan is to either try it in a big hanging basket or in a tall planter so it can trail down. And basically treat it like an annual this year and decide if I want to keep it as something more later.

Ha! That’s very familiar. Gloves on, gloves off, gloves on, gloves off - gloves stay off.
Its when you’ve got a lot of switching between cutting and tying in. Especially on a ladder!

I just made sure I had them on while stripping leaves as that’s when they get me! Especially Ghislaine, she gives as good as she gets...who’s pruning who!?

    Busy afternoon:

I potted on all of my secret gardening club plants, and also my Kew Gardens cuttings. The roses slipped perfectly into some rose pots I had from the garden centre, same width but taller, so they’ve gained some extra depth of soil without me having to disturb the roots at all.

I moved slabs at the front to see how easy it would be to make a planting hole for front of house rose and it looks very good. Just a few chunks of mortar to knock out and then it’s straight into soil. Slabs went down nice and easily back into place in the mean time, so it’s reversible if need be. I’ll make sure to keep the slab I remove somewhere just in case.

Tomorrow, if I remember, I want to take a photo of the wall and then layer some different roses on top to see what colours look best.

I also brought inside my rugosa seed tray in the hopes they’ll spark into life. They’ve had enough cold by now!

Welcome @cooldoc2000. You have very nice selection of roses.

@Mr. Vine Eye, I liked video of pond. Hope soon everything gets sorted out on allotment.

I am enjoying everyone's gardening updates. Weather is nice but I won't get time anytime this month. I have booked couple of days off next month for gardening.

I think I am the only one who religiously wears gloves in garden. It slows me down. I have 8 pairs, and when one pair gets wet I change to next.
