Thanks all, yes it is idyllic, but hard work. At 3 acres it’s 2 more than we need or want really, but more compact than many Catalan properties, our neighbours have 60 hectares!! The inherited pool is expensive to run and the colour is a bit garish, not sure I would have put one in, but must admit it’s a godsend June to August.
Oh and yes they are Italian Cypress @Marlorena and no planting around the pool, that spot by the wall is prime south-facing sunbathing territory!
I have a bud on Marie Pavie, but so tiny it’s a bit blurry:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Some fabulous acreage there @Nollie, looks wonderful. I'm glad Sandra is feeling better too.
@AlliumPurpleSensation, after reading your comment about thorns I was reminded that I found my rose Flanders had impaled itself on it's own thorn. I saw a couple of weirdly crossing branches and found one had stabbed itself onto another.
Is anyone else planning this year's bare root purchases yet? I've got a dozen on my list already
@Victoria Sponge What’s on your list? 😁 I only have Indigo in mind, but I have spots for several pots...just need the pots, the soil, the roses, oh, and the money to buy it all! 😅
I had to start a pot savings fund for this latest brilliant idea @Omori. I was hoping to get some nice pots as they will be permanent and four are for the front garden so I need them to be heavy (non-portable). My lists can't really be trusted until paid for but something like:
Autumn Delight Minerva County of Yorkshire Papworths Pride LD Braithwaite Georges Vibert Novalis Leonie Lamesch Rose de Rescht Comtesse du Cayla Grosvenor House Raymond Carver
Not all for pots though, found another six spaces in the ground.

Yes, seems a bit early but I'm a believer in long range plans thought it was just me. I have Autumn delight on my list too, but then again, I have a list of 50 or so to whittle down to 10...

@Mr. Vine Eye, yes glorious garden and weather.
@Fire, interesting observation. I enjoy all science behind plants behaviour.
