Hmm, I thought it was meant to be very healthy, so a weakling then, thanks @Omori. It was the worst of several runty specimens from Beales. I have just noticed another supposedly rudely healthy one from them, Ivor’s rose, also has a touch 😠 Think I will spray all four of theirs at least.

Sorry you’ve had such poor specimens, @Nollie, hope they recover for you 🤞

Have just placed my first order with Rumwood Nurseries, aka British Roses, as I couldn’t find what I wanted in stock anywhere else. Anyone have experience with them?

.oh just to add, I've bought some multi purpose Levington from Tesco... selling 40 ltr bags, 2 for £6... I'm not using it in pots, but I feel it makes a good mulch as it's quite fibrous.. almost strulchy if that's a word..   I've been mulching most of my roses with it, as above in some photos..

Lovely new growth @Marlorena, will be interesting to see how own root Munstead does compared to grafted. Rumwoods shipped my order 1 hour after placing it, so fast turn around to say the least! I've ordered Belle de Crecy and Mme Hardy from them, as BdC was sold out everywhere that I looked.

I was impressed by the selection as well, quite extensive.

I’ve also bought a clematis from Thorncroft clematis for first time, very pleased with it. I got Warsaw Nike which is a lovely dark purple to grow next to Rosa Shropshire Lad.

ive just spent a very pleasant 52 minutes watching a YouTube video about David Austin  roses in America. The great Paul Zimmerman in conversation with the DA  US sales executive. Talking about breeding, pruning companion planting etc, it was very informative.

Beales are well crossed off my list @Omori and @Marlorena, they’re probably not sending here anymore anyway. What do you both think, is it worth sulphur spraying the rest of my potted roses just in case? I didn’t get round to doing the miscreants today, I got absorbed in fence building, trying to get it done before the rain, but will tackle it tomorrow.

All looking good, Marlorena. How wide is the bed you have Mme. Antoine Mari in? I’m dithering between two locations at the moment, but one might be a bit too narrow.
