...they do occasionally have a bad year... not so long ago they lost  their whole annual £1 million pound investment because they had nothing worthy to release, so they had to bring forward roses still being trialled that were not due to be released.. so I heard..

...the 2 they gave us last year are no great shakes in my opinion.. although it's early to tell.. but I'm surprised that was the best they could do, frankly..

For those interested, it seems TCL is still delivering to the UK, but now part of shipping Zone 3 so costs have increased to €27.50 for up to 25 roses.

I have nearly bought Graham Thomas twice! The first time I chose Golden Celebration instead as I believed it would be easier to keep in a neat shrub form (ha!). Recently as a backup/substitute for yellow climbing tea/noisettes in case they hate my cold winters.

I’ve got 2 dozen new roses to contend with already and do NOT need any more right now, but am tempted to place another TCL order for the climbing roses I planned to get in Autumn and slipping in a GT. Will I regret it if I sensibly resist? Will OH kill me if yet another parcel of roses appears? Yes to both, probably 😆

Had a huge dump of dust-bearing Saharan rain yesterday, really weird for this time of year - a rare event that usually happens in summer. All the new growth on the roses are not covered in a milky coffee film! I’m hoping we get some clean rain to wash it off. Of course this also happened a day after I had sprayed the roses with sulphur 🙄

Roald Dahl, Imogen and Bathsheba were released in 2016 ..Mr VE...
    Of course they were!

Imogen, don't see her mentioned much!

@Nollie - plague of locusts next! Thanks for info about TCL. They didn't have any I wanted left in stock anyway last I checked before Christmas.

With those shipping fees it would be borderline, unless ordering in bulk, whether you'd get better value than just ordering direct from DA (or alternative) now

Do consider the Generous Gardener, great for shade. Mine's growing on a North facing fence so only gets sun at midsummer.

Doing well. Last year was its second year and I had plenty of blooms from it. Seems to be happy.

Lots of growth starting on it now too.

It's thorny lower down but then most of the stems above 40cm are almost completely smooth.

Well a plague has already arrived in the form of aphids (well, about a dozen), sawflies next, then asian hornets, so doubtless the locusts will put in a appearance at some point @Mr. Vine Eye

TCL is good for discontinued DAs, but yes only worth it for larger orders.

'Imogen' is a pretty floriferous rose, unfortunately the individual blooms last only 2 days, gone by the 3rd.. but that's no different to a lot of them..

...I've grown all those you mention.. what did you want to know about them exactly?..
