    My fragrant beauties.

Viburnum burkwoodii, viburnum carlesii, osmanthus delvayii, Daphne.

Daphne is sulking  :( I love them but if this one dies I won't replace. I have lost so many, they just don't love me or my garden. Very expensive too.
Hi @newbie77, what is Osmanthus like? Is it fairly compact and easy to maintain? I have a Daphne in my semi shade but have no evergreen in the sunny border. Thanks in advance for your help!

@Sammymummy, my osmanthus shrubs are small currently. They are slow growing so would remain small for a while. But I have seen big ones at someone's front garden like a hedge so they do grow large eventually.

Not had chance to read for a few days but what a lovely lot of posts ive missed! Ive got a big smile looking at all the gorgeous pictures and inspiration from you all.
My gardens bursting into flower too, ill resize pics and post some later. My big front garden bulb display is out in force and smells wonderful. Counted 20 ladybirds yesturday on it!
My first daphne is flowering, 2 clusters of buds an inch size and i can smell it all across that bed, ive brought 2 more on principle!
Ive been eying up potential rose spots of course... any suggestions for a yellowish tone rose or a bit of red that will take some shade? Shrub or bush. Bit of a gap at the end of a bed!
Also after a clematis recommendation please, blue tone, flowering as long and late as possible to join lady of shallot on her obelisk. Ive got nepeta giant with it so that sort of colour. Its occasionally a bit shady there, that or burning hot...

@JessicaS - Arabella is bluey. She's gorgeous and would look lovely with a rose.

Couple of years ago we were on holiday and I saw that Aldi had loads of the 9cm clematis so, as we didn't have space to take any with us, I messaged my mother-in-law a list of the ones I liked to see if she could.get them from our local Aldi for me.

She bought Arabella as an extra one, it wasn't on my list and I said she could have it.

Well I saw it flowering in her garden last year and really wished I'd kept it! 😅

    I've just taken some cuttings.

It's a scrambling type, not self clinging, so it would need directing, wrapping or tying in to get it started but then it seems to be happy going up by itself after that.

I think it's gorgeous, the flowers are all different as the sepals twist in different directions.

@Sammymummy, what size and shape evergreen are you looking for?

Hi @newbie77, my fence is 6 ft high and it’s a fairy narrow border of about 5 ft. It has sun all day. I would like something not taller than 8ft and also with flowers. Scent will be a bonus. Sorry for non-rose related posts everyone! I have roses too but nothing compared to yours!

@Sammymummy, my tall and narrow go to evergreen shrub is basic nandina, the one with berries and not the fire power one. It doesnt have scented flowers though. On one of my narrow border I have put star jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) climber. It is evergreen and has scented flowers.

Someone from forum would be able to suggest more options.

Thank you @newbie77! I’ve only seen fire nandina, so will give it a thought.
