Sometimes DA introduces a rose as a shrub then changes it to being a climber...for example, Teasing Georgia. Maybe that will happen with Silas.
  • It’s the first time I am trying roses in a pot. Usually they are in the ground, it’s clay here so I have been able to get away with not doing much to the roses previously. But after seeing what you all do here I started feeding last year and this year I am feeding a bit more. My roses were healthier for feeding just the seaweed during the season, so I will see what I can do this year. There seemed less black spot, which is the thing that bothers me.

I went for Scarborough Fair (top) and Skylark (bottom). Almost the same semi double flower just different shades. Hope they live up to the promotional photographs, as I didn’t get to see them in real life. Hope that the insects do like them.

... I thought you made it yourself as I know you're very good with this sort of thing..

..question.. re GT with Trevor White... I've been checking out their potted roses for some time and cannot see it.. where are you seeing it Nollie?..  I would have got one..

oh ok, I've found it, but ''out of stock''..

    Your fence looks great Nollie.

My astrantia Gill Richardson doesn't seem to have come back, and it was a pathetic 3 leaf thing all year with no flowers. That's why I bought that Milano.

@Marlorena I ask with some trepidation after what happened last time I tired, but when is the best time to divide brunnera? Is it Autumn or straight after flowering?

I'd like to spread them around the shady bed.

Also I saw photos yesterday of some £15.99 DA roses at a garden centre (similar to the Corinne's choice PAOK I bought a couple of years ago) - Graham Thomas was amongst them.

@Nollie, amazing job with the fence.

@Mr. Vine Eye , good selection of plants you have ordered.

After dithering a lot, I ordered some petunia, nicotiana and cosmos seeds.

Still no sign of any buds and fox uprooted many roses from pots and made a big mess  :(

...join the queue... I have a backlog of jobs just waiting for Nollie's expertise..

    .. @Littlegarden
...those are two nice roses..  Skylark has huge blooms when established..

..oh sorry about your potted roses and the fox.. not a problem I've experienced before..  my dog has damaged 'Mutabilis', I thought he would but I did not get there quick enough, so I've taken action to prevent further damage...

.. well that's good list of plants, I hope you're going to keep that mint potted..  re the Brunnera, as you have found, just removing small pieces of the purple roots, and planting them somewhere, will result in a new plant.. they sort of pop up the following year as in photos below... I often forget where I've put them and may dig them up accidentally.. a label would help of course..
I do it anytime, even when they're in flower, oh and during the winter too.. but spring/summer probably best..
    ..I just took these photos...
