I've only got one red rose - Paul Scarlet . nice when its flowering but lacks other characteristics I want .
I got a few clematis Piilu - warenburg - betty cornering - plena elegans - Mystery one - white bride - jackmanii and a montana somewhere but by far my favourites is Super Nova . Thinking of getting madame julia correvon , I like the viticella group the most
I haven't done any pruning yet its a tad early for here but the weather is to warm up next week so I may attack a clematis or 2 and Paul scarlet cause it looks a mess. I've been doing quite a few local winter walks the past week while I can't play out , its been rather chilly but nice to be out in the fresh air when the sun out .
@Marlorena The hills opposite are , there is a path up there called Pennine bridel way, the Pennine way path is about 2 mile or less to the left of this picture. I was up there Friday hills opposite , I like walking around in the snow for some reason .
Not a red rose lover, closest I have is Munstead Wood. To be honest I don't like any bright red flowers. Most of my roses are DA and most of them have a real wow factor. The only two that I'm not sure about are Mayflower and Susan Williams Ellis which @Cambridgerose12 mentioned earlier. I just find them both a bit uninspiring, although they are very disease resistant. I have decided to to replace them this year and have just ordered Chandos. Not DA, but I have had my eye on it for quite a while. Has anyone else grown it.
you guys are a fountain of knowledge and you have some amazing roses!
I've always wanted a rose so finally ordered the lady of shalott this evening from David Austin for a large pot that houses a dead lavender that didn't make last year.
Ive since been reading and discovered it is also somewhat of a climber. Am I ok to leave it without support or do i need to buy an obelisk to support it like I would a clematis?
How the red roses make my heart sing. I am addicted, no doubt. But then, I 'm red and my house is red, so it comes as no surprise. I have a theory about retinal receptors.
