I’ve bought Golden Rocket and Maria. I also have Orange Sunrise, which has darker leaves. I’m trying to choose more upright varieties. I especially like them at this time of year when the fresh leaves and the small flower buds are looking particularly attractive.
Mind you, the Orange Sunrise might have been mislabelled as it doesn’t match at all the photo that persuaded me to buy it.
@Perki...thanks for that, yes the stem on the left is dead and needs cutting out. I do normally mulch with garden centre bagged manure, but not this year as yet because I was going to dig it up and move it. I agree with you about die back, but it does look very similar to it. I will give it a closer examination tomorrow.
Lovely, @pitter-patter, either of those two would look great in my oranges and lemons border. I have a few rockets too, red rocket is more burgundy and orange rocket is very bionic, but can be a bit on the coral side. The sunnier the position the better the colour, usually, the north sides of mine tend to be duller/more green.
After all that fleecing of my tender young veg and tucking up the potted roses, the predicted -4 didn’t happen, only zero and a light ground frost. Still, better safe than sorry!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Marlorena...my obelisk is in and planted up. The smaller rose to the left is 'Ballerina', I think it might be happier there as it won't be in full sun all day. The one on the right is the rather lovely but unknown rambler, which has very small red blooms. It will be interesting to see how high that grows now it's in the ground...it's looking rather vigorous already.
@Marlorena...thanks for that Marlorena, the obelisk is one that rusts over time which I rather like, I'm thinking of putting geranium 'Ann Folkard at the front to grow up it.
Can I ask what is your opinion on my Harlow Carr, it just seems to be going brown from the ground up, yet everything above it seems healthy as the photos show. @Perki seems to think it might be down to mulching, but I haven't put a mulch down this year yet.
@peteS ... I see that quite often and can't say it worries me too much.. if you scrape a bit off with your thumb nail you'll find it's green underneath... not sure about the cane on the left though...
..I plant Geraniums to climb from the inside or outside... the more straggly ones I prefer in the middle. This is 'Patricia', it'll climb to about 5 feet..

... what are you planning with your own root Kew Gardens then @Mr. Vine Eye ?.. it will be interesting to see if it retains the same vigour..
... is anyone else waiting for bare roots? I'm expecting a couple from Beales but it's getting late, I like to have them all done by mid March..
Oh very nice Pete, and your obelisk is rather smart... I like the way you have arranged your roses..

...good enough for me...and I like the idea of the geranium growing out from the centre also.
