    ..delicious... Austin's are so photogenic... one of the best things about them.. it would be good to see how they are at the moment, so we can compare progress...

    @Omori
    ...here is my 'Mutabilis'... I think I've been colder than you, so yours should be ok..?

    ..interesting, but winterizing roses is not really appropriate for most of the UK climate... fortunately we don't need to worry about that too much.. unless you live in Braemar maybe.. but it's good to see how others deal with things..

    Yours looks great @Marlorena, look at my dreadful one...all other roses are fine except this one, but this area flooded this winter. Maybe I need to build this area up and try again.

    ..that one has clearly suffered @Omori .. still some green cane there though, so fingers crossed..  it is a bit iffy when young so let's see what happens... Perhaps with hindsight it might have been best to pot that one up for a bit..

    @Marlorena, from the queen of rose companion planting, that’s praise indeed! Thank you.

    @Omori, I did plant Mutabilis in a pot, but a largish one outside, and it looks just as bad, if not worse than yours after a prolonged cold period. I wish I had put it a smaller pot in the poly, along with Cramoisi Superieur (in the ground). The frost got all the new growth on the latter. Both clearly tender when young!

    ..sorry to hear both your roses have suffered somewhat Nollie.. that's a bummer...

    ...as for perennials, I have succumbed once again, and just ordered a load of stuff from Penlan Perennials [recommended by edhelka some time ago] and Macplants, who I've ordered from before... I've not grown Veronicastrum before, so thought I'd give it a go..

    Sorry to hear that yours has suffered as well @Nollie, here’s hoping they both show some life and bounce back in the spring 🤞

    I love veronicastrum one of my favourites and very reliable, what variety have you bought @Marlorena ?
  • Still very cold, in fact today felt like the coldest so far. My class were begging for us to go back in at playtime and that’s unheard of with this lot.

    I’ve got two more cold days/nights and then Monday is very mild, positively tropical! Then the pruning starts 😁
