    I have realised that I’m a natural hoarder and I find it so terribly hard to ever throw anything away.
    You and my OH would get on like a house on fire, and you both wouldn’t want to throw away the charred remains either 😂

    @Fire Geranium Rozanne. And I agree, Arrietty is one of my favourites because of that reason.

    @celcius_kkw Gorgeous garden, proof you can never have too many roses!

    @Perki Such a striking blue, and a beautiful garden you have there.

    ..yes lovely garden of perennials... such a striking blue, but I have to accept my garden wouldn't suit it..   oh and best of luck with the Proteas.. be interesting to see how you keep them going there..

    @owd potter
    ..nice bunch of roses from Austins, your border is going to look splendid...  I believe you wanted a white rose, so I'll put it out there if you ever fancy it, to consider 'Gruss an Aachen'.. not to be put off by the slightly gutteral German name, this is the rose that late David Austin wanted to replicate with his English Roses, and he often included it amongst them, even though it wasn't one of his... he described it as the quintessential English rose..
    It's white, with a hint of pink in the middle... there is a pink version too..

    ..just to add.. a more modern version of this rose, with perhaps a better name is 'Summer Memories'... from the same breeder..

  • Your balcony bulb display is wonderful @celcius_kkw, it must be lovely sitting out there with all the flowers and the beautiful views.

    This was supposed to be the first morning in a fortnight without a frost but not so. Most of my roses have some or more leaf damage, worst are Rhapsody in Blue, Crown Princess Margareta (first spring) and Parkdirektor Riggers.

    Although the mornings have been very cold the days have been sunny and breezy so I started watering stuff this morning, roses, pots and the new alpine clems. Done the back and will start the front shortly. I also messed around making a few dams with some left over JI3 to ensure the water didn't run away. I noticed a tiny bud on my new LEH in the past week but everything else seems to have stalled.

    Enjoyed reading about all of the midnight plant buying! ;)

    I woke up to a very frosty morning here. Fortunately there doesn’t seem to be more tip damage on the roses, but it might just be taking a while to show through. My peas, broad beans and early potatoes suffered though 😞

    My only roses showing any sigh of frost damage is Vanessa Bell, which of course I transplanted (poorly) last week. All the others are fine.

    Ive watered this morning. Must get another water butt or tank. I’ve a slimline 100l and that’s just not cutting it any more. I used the whole thing almost just with the potted on perennials and it has been filled back up since. I’d ideally like one large enough to dunk your watering can in, but don’t really have the space. Might just have to make do with a second slimline one at the front of the house.

    Watering with the hose takes ages. All the unreeling and then slow flow compared to emptying a can.

    The frost damage is really painful. Two more nights of -2, supposedly, but it keeps getting extended  :s Well, what can you do...

    Lovely spring garden @Marlorena, lots to enjoy there.
