I’m with you @Yviestevie and @Allotment Boy. My first day in the garden for what feels like ages, and I feel so much better for it 😀. Apple trees now pruned, two pear trees (stepovers) transplanted .....they have two chances right? 😆
We spent the autumn revamping our veg garden round the new greenhouse. Built 11 raised beds from oak sleepers, but then Mr C dropped one on his foot......thought he had broken it (the foot, not the sleeper) but luckily he got away with a nasty bruising. By the time he had recovered the weather had nose dived, so its great to get back out there and put the finishing touches to it. Redistributed soil from two overflowing beds, to two that have low levels. A bit more redistribution to do next time we have a decent day (looks like Saturday at the earliest 🙄) and then we get to gravel the paths ......and then Voila 😝😝😝. Just in time for the first crops to go in 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It is @punkdoc 😜😜🤪. Have never really been a veg gardener, but last year I tried a few things (all that time on my hands) and really enjoyed it. Now I have the bug 🥕🌽🥦🥬🧅🥔
Might even try to sneak in a flower cutting patch when Mr C’s back is turned 😉
I understand your frustrations @Busy-Lizzie. Can your OH not claim residency here and then come and go as he pleases? He doesn't need to own a property here if his wife does surely? I need to get to England to sort out some stuff following my mother's demise but it's looking unlikely for some time. Certainly don't want to go without having had at least one vaccine.
We didn't go to the Mairie to get married, we had a religious service but not a French legal one for various reasons. He doesn't want residency here as he would then be in the French tax system so if he left money to his step daughter she would have to pay 60% tax as the French don't recognise step children.

Lovely day here too. I've put my new compost bin together, cut down a load of brambles and weeded half a flower bed. The flower bed has hardly anything in it, a very old lavender and a straggly rosemary so it will need replanting. OH pruned the bay tree which was blocking the way round the fruit garden. We will have bay leaf flavour in tonight's casserole.
Glad it went well @Dovefromabove, I hope you don't ache tomorrow.

I'm not sure I understand why you can't go to England @Busy-Lizzie France is not on the red list is it? I thought you could go if you isolate when you get there?

@Te, can I just clarify something with you? You have mentioned that you are friendly with Verdun. I am sure you know that Verdun caused a lot of problems on this site and eventually left. I am sure you want to fit in and enjoy the site, so I think it is worth saying that there are still certain bad feelings around.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@D0rdogne_Damsel because French residents are not allowed to leave France to go to countries outside the EU at the moment because of Covid, unless you have an extremely good reason. The Prime Minister has said " toute entrée en France et toute sortie de notre territoire à destination ou en provenance d’un pays extérieur à l’espace européen sera interdite, sauf motif impérieux." We aren't in lockdown, but we are restricted and advised to stay at home except for necessary shopping.

That all sounds very confusing! I wonder how one of my favourite shows, A Place in the Sun, will go. 🙄 People might decide that it’s too difficult to have a holiday place in France.
We’ve got cloud, but no rain as usual, so I’ve planned a big day of washing. Maybe even clean up the broad bean plants.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
