  • @punkdoc can you get them to drop off a few bags here on their way to you? 😉

Thanks @Pat E but I still have a packet to sow and try again.

@Busy-Lizzie they feature in curry recipes as black onion seeds tho I've no idea why they're called  that.

I need to take OH (muscle power) shopping for fresh seed and cuttings compost while there's an offer on at the local store.  No deliveries here and it's been a few years since I could happily heave 70kilo bags about.

We have a local gardener in Tavistock who’s been trying to do all he can to stay afloat, we bought our Ch. Tree from him, he’s now delivering Levingtons Professional at 3 for £16.50.  Although Levingtons is not what it was, it’s better than having to risk going to the GC,  he will bring it to the door.

  • Morning all.  The wind has dropped, which is a blessing - the birds were getting blown off the feeders yesterday, and rain battered the windows most of the day.  A change from the previous two sunny days, when I did rather more in the garden than my shoulders appreciated... it's still dull and damp though, so I'll be looking through the seed packets.  And maybe tidying the shed...

Hope the soreness eases soon, @Hostafan1.  (Dangerous things, sledgehammers.)  Priorities for vaccination must be difficult to get right, but one can't help feeling that shop workers are lower on the list than they should be.

It's lovely to see progress in your gardens, @Busy-Lizzie , @chicky and @D0rdogne_Damsel .  We're waiting for enough dry weather to cut the grass here, but it needs several dry days in a row, but enjoying the early spring bulbs.  Memo to self:  must plant some crocuses in the autumn.   :)

Cut a couple of inches off my hair yesterday.  It needs more than a light trim, but hubby is unwilling to take responsibility for scissor wielding.  The birds will be pleased to have nest-lining material anyway - last year they used a lot of glass fibre roof insulation, tweaked out of a big lump left by the builders, but I'm sure natural materials are preferable.

  • A few people have asked after Fairygirl ... she's asked me to say there's no need to worry ... life is busy at the moment (it's that time of year folks) and she's taking a little break from the board ... enjoy your gardens and she'll see you soon  B)

I've colleagues who are beside themselves with worry about the behaviour of customers in store.
It's as if they think we shopworkers are immune so no social distancing is needed where we're concerned

    Morning.

Anyone working in a public environment is at the mercy of others following the recommended rules. The shoppers who do the chin-mask behaviour etc are effectively saying - I don’t care about others. The potential viral load in indoor places must be huge. I think any workers should have vaccines over people who stay at home (after the clinically vulnerable) - that’s just logical, plus a bit of respect for those of us who are key workers.

Very disappointed here that the warmest day of the year so far is gloomy with some rain showers. We are going to tidy the garage/workshop today, instead of gardening bits.

    Have a good day all.

    My sentiments exactly.
I heard someone last week complaining she's not allowed to open her tearooms and she said " Supermarkets are open and they're a hotbed of transmission" and I thought,       " yeah, thanks for your support, COW! "

I do agree that it’s unfair not to prioritise those who have to work with the public. I am lucky that pharmacy comes under the NHS umbrella and I have had my first vaccine. Hope they change the rules soon

Hi folks,  Don't know if this will help anyone but I had a call from Firstborn this morning and she had heard that the government were releasing vaccine appts for the 60 to 65 age group but weren't advertising the fact.  I logged on to the NHS Covid Vaccine booking site and lo and behold I have an appt for tomorrow at the Black Country Museum.  All you need is your NHA number which will be on any hospital letter.
I've been suffering a bit over the last few days from doing too much in the garden on Sunday.  I have been out this morning and pruned the clems, cleared some dead growth from the front garden.  Hubby moved some pots to help me sort out the veg space.  I wanted to do more but decided to err on the side of caution.  Hopefully I'll be able to FBB the borders tomorrow.  Rose Chandos Beauty arrived today so I'll try and plant that tomorrow.
    Hope everyone is OK.
