morning all , late start for me this am ... first coffee down , second on the go.... and looks like it's wet and miserable outside so bang goes my re-potting plan... have teh dentist tomorrow so I guess it will have to wait till Friday... happy mid-week all.
Wet again, despite the forecast saying mainly dry today. I determinedly weeded for an hour or so yesterday in light drizzle, just the little weeds that are creeping up, trying desperately to keep on top of them. I really hope it dries up a bit, being in the garden feels so good.
I have made a cheesecake for a takeaway order later and I have some cauliflower soup on for lunch too.
For the first time I have bought some mealworms for the birds and a new little feeder so hoping to see some more birds today. The fat balls are extremely popular so I'll see what they think of the mealworms.
The kitchen at CdeG is nearly finished and I have wallpaper for the tearoom so that is the next job, although it looks like a plasterer will be needed first.
I have also planted some more seeds, the ones I did a few weeks ago are now out in the G/H and I have some Ammi Majus, more Tithonia and some Zinnia started now.
So impatient for spring to get going now.

Well @Dovefromabove it's like this-, have you thought about the amount of hswk it would need. I don't think you would have any time for tennis- sorry to disappoint 😕 @D0rdogne_Damsel I find that the birds love the mealworms but they tend to go for them to the exclusion of the other food. Hope everyone is ok today.
Good morning. Broken night last night. The wind dropped and I woke up worrying about it being so quiet and then after a brief lull we were being blown to bits again by which time OH was snoring so I decamped to the sofa to read till he got up and then went back to bed.
Staying very blustery today but should be dry and then it will get cold again but be calm, maybe calm enough for the demolition crew to come and remove the last shreds of roof from the barns and maybe dry for me to weed that new bed I made last year against one of its walls before they trample all over with scaffolding.
Our birds get meal worms in fat blocks and eat those very quickly but ignored them when I put down whole worms. They also get fat blocks with insects and fat balls with seed plus loose mixed seed. At this time of year it all gets scoffed.

We’ve got a cold spell coming up and our birds seem to ignore the fatballs I bought in the autumn do on @WonkyWomble’s recommendation I’ve ordered suet pellets(with added insects) ... the birds need to maintain their body weight with nesting time just around the corner.
@Allotment Boy the lovely thing about old beamed houses is that you can’t keep up with the dusting so no one knows whether you’ve done it or not ... another thought is that it’s such a big house I could do mates rates holidays for Forkers ... I’m sure @WonkyWomble could run a team of Under Housekeepers financed by the spread betting you could organise on the tennis matches? You see, I do have a cunning plan 🤫

It is a pretty house @Dovefromabove, but, having been a large period home owner, I agree with @Allotment Boy. Not a practical house for a more mature lady, unless you have pots of money. HW and maintenance will start taking over your life.
Plumber/electrician should be popping in later to see about installing a dishwasher in the kitchen and a shower in the future utility room.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Oh I was definitely planning on having pots of money @Busy-Lizzie 🤣
@LToby that house is in my old stamping ground and i lived in really old houses all my life until a few years ago and we have had builders in the extended family ... including specialists in old timberframed properties eh @WonkyWomble ? I probably feel much more confident in their maintenance than in the relatively modern home I have at the moment.
However, if no one’s going to organise that whip-round I s’pose we’ll have to stay here 🙄 😉
