Thanks @Dovefromabove! Think we will be having another sunny day here so I'm happy!
Hope you have some good weather too @Allotment Boy.

Hello @Liriodendron, glad you have nice weather! I have a similar job of trying to hide a ton bag of leaf mould in my garden somewhere so it doesn't become a feature!
Have a lovely day out there!

    Morning all.

Slept like a log last night. Maybe why I felt so unmotivated yesterday was just tiredness. Really need to get a move on with the two new beds so I can get the roses planted.

Morning all. Going to make a day of it today, if possible. Want to sow some sweet peas and start cutting back the perennials, the sedum is starting to come through.
I’ve no idea what I’m doing.
  • Morning all -- been absent for a few days just dealing with a variety of family mini-crises - been catching up on everyone's posts. Glad the vaccinations are going well in the UK ( even if some are suffering with side effects ). Hopefully residents of other countries will soon have theirs too. In response to someone asking earlier re Pfizer reactions ( might have been on the covid thread not sure now which one it was on)  I had the Pfizer jab a week ago and didn't have any real side effects other than "knowing" where the needle had gone in but not remotely enough to need painkillers . "Gardening" wise all I've done is sow a few seeds indoors and waiting for germination!

Morning all, cold and grey here today I think I will rest my aching joints and muscles  even though I still have roses to prune. Thanks for the info @Obelixx, we don't have a France Rurale near us, there is no shortage of huge bags of sunflower seeds with shells, I think I will save up for an "eplucher"!

Morning folks. Great excitement here this morning. Woke up to find a 'Road Closed' notice right outside our drive and a big lorry parked outside our neighbours. When we next looked there was a gigantic articulated crane going up (the very tall kind with the red warning light on top for aircraft!). My first thought was oh no, our newish neighbours were having a hot tub delivered to their back garden which would have to be swung right over their house (and possibly ours). Then nothing seemed to be happening and being nosy I sent OH to find out what was going on. Turns out that they were craning out an unwanted young oak tree from the middle one of six gardens and taking it somewhere in the Mendips.  The crane and lorry had come from Gloucester so goodness knows what it had all cost. The tree was actually too long for the lorry by about 6-10 ft so didn't look very secure. Perhaps it was a rare variety?

Wow, thats a lot of effort and expense @Lizzie27 😮. Assume it must have been a very special tree 🌳

Dull and grey here, but no rain - so heading out for more trips with the trusty barrow.  Two dry days in a row .....whats the world coming too??

Greetings Forkers.  Dull and grey here with none of the expected sunny spells.  No matter.  OH and I have a date with the veggie plot this pm and a bit of a sort out in the Cave so Possum will be on Rasta walking duty.

@floralies our birds have always been happy with the sunflower seeds still in their coats as they don't know any better.  It just gets a bit messy sometimes.    The shelled ones are about 3 times more expensive by volume but, obviously, more concentrated.   Haven't been able to find ordinary mixed bird seed for a couple of weeks which is a worry.

Hope your good sleep has done the trick @Busy-Lizzie.

Crane manoeuvres on a Sunday @Lizzie27?
