Morning all, those pictures look amazing! @steveTu I'm happy to rep report that we have finally melted!!!! Just a couple of lingering clumps about now. It's been resourced with rain but I'm not complaining! I am wondering how my repair job on my greenhouse roof is holding up though!
Good luck for your jab today @Dovefromabove. Hope the side effects aren't too bad. I have to say I'm worried about how it will affect hubby. Brother womble was really ill and if it does the same to hubby then he can have a bad sickle cell episode. Haven't told him I'm worried as i don't want to deter him from getting the jab.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ @WonkyWomble ☕️ we also have green lawns here 😊 I know bro womble had a reaction but his pharmacist boss thinks that was because he’d had the virus already. It’ll be interesting to see if i have a strong reaction. And there’s little doubt the virus will affect your Lovely Hub much worse than the jab ... he’s just got to do it. 💉 👍
I went downstairs earlier (before I’d had a coffee 😲) and knocked back the sourdough that had been proving overnight. Now it’s been shaped into a loaf and is having its second prove and it will go into the oven when I’ve had my shower. That means it’ll be cooling by the time I leave to go to the hospital. It’s all in the timing 😆

Morning folks, good luck with the jab @Dovefromabove. I'm surprised this morning to find it's much warmer (although it was forecast I didn't quite believe it!) and the wind has completely dropped, makes such a difference. The early morning papers are suggesting that we might be able to see our grandchildren outside as soon as early March - let's hope they are correct. I haven't seen mine since last autumn and I do miss them.
I wouldn't pin your hopes on that, Lizzie. It'll depend on the political pressure but the scientific advice is to maintain restrictions until the daily case numbers are in the 1000 to 2000 range. It was 13,000 yesterday. Reopening schools will come first and then they will probably wait and see if that bumps the case numbers up again (or they should, anyway). We'll see.
Much milder here today. It got down to 3.8C in our kitchen on Saturday morning. 12.8 in there this morning
Have a good week, everyone.

I’m not pinning hopes in anything ... I assume it’s going to be two steps forward and sometimes one back for the next few years.
Hopefully the brilliant scientists will come up with a vaccine that’s equally effective in all variants, but as we still don’t have one of those for flu or the common cold (both of which are corona viruses) I’m not going to hold my breath.
What I’d like us for the scientists and epidemiologists to make a flow chart showing government what to do if certain things happen ... eg. if the infection rate goes down to a certain figure we can follow a certain path, but if it rises to a certain number then we go back round again.
I think that sort of thing would be helpful for businesses who have to plan ahead. That way they could have plans A,B and C and know when to trigger them. It should at least stop the endless speculation in the media.
At the moment it still feels a bit like ‘back of a fag packet’ planning. 🙄

The Covid cases yesterday were 10,972 @raisingirl.
Amazing photo of the ice.
OH has booked to go back to the UK by ferry the end of the month. He has to have a Covid test before he goes. I don't think I will be able to go with him unless there is a big Covid change. French residents are not allowed to travel outside Europe at the moment, thanks to Brexit the UK is outside Europe. Thanks to Brexit, he has to go back. I'm worrying about him, long drive with his bad hip, risk of catching Covid on the way. Will he get his test result in time? Don't know when I'll next see him. Bloody Brexit.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning all you chatterboxes. @raisingirl says "What I’d like us for the scientists and epidemiologists to make a flow chart showing government what to do if certain things happen ... eg. if the infection rate goes down to a certain figure we can follow a certain path, but if it rises to a certain number then we go back round again." I totally agree but that would require more long term thinking than Bojo's mates seem to be able to manage. "we're not having vaccination passports" "we're having them " " they're not being considered"
My grump, after a 13 + hour shift yesterday is folk who have tiny, almost invisible house numbers/ names ON their house, at the end of a very long drive , ie invisible from the pavement .
I had no phone signal and went up to a door " Forgive me, but are you No 11? " "No, we're No 9" " Is the house next door No 10 , or No 11? " " I've no idea"

Possibly not a local then ... holiday cottage? 😠
