Afternoon. Cold out - bit sleety.

Just run the gauntlet of having to go into my local town to go to chemist, and post office to renew my driving license photo card. Bit annoyed because last year there was an 11 month COVID extension on licenses but that finished at the start of 2021. Also the parking pay stations in town have been turned into ‘contactless’ yet you still need to key your Reg number into the machine using manual buttons. I grumped at that too.

Treated myself to some Pastéis de Nata on the way home to cheer myself up 😋

Hope all are well. Stay warm and safe.

AuntyRach I carry a pen with me and use that to press any buttons I need to press. Obviously doesn't always work for touchscreens.

Good idea @Pauline 7. I always have hand sanitiser in my bag and car so slathered that on after!

It's cold here too, hovering just below freezing and damp and murky.   Have spent my morning teaching Possum how to paint a table - old wooden jobby we found in the barns and which I was using as a cuttings table.   I've also been doing battle with my PC which seems to have a bug somewhere.  It's taken 6 goes to get it to wake up and let me access the internet so will need a major backup session and then a clean.  Old age gets to us all.

@D0rdogne_Damsel bread is neither fattening nor slimming in itself.  What makes the difference, as with pasta, is how you dress it but it's true that the slower and more natural the rising process, the less likelihood of gluten intolerance and bloating.  Fast action yeast and the industrial Chorleywood process have a lot to answer for.  For home use, have a look at soda bread which can be done with ordinary flour with less gluten.   probably a good idea to try it to serve with soups at the CdeG too.

@Busy-Lizzie I take it the vendors knew you were coming and understand that you'll need the removals men to carry furniture and heavier boxes upstairs.  What were they thinking?   Hope it all gets sorted satisfactorily.

Definitely an indoors day here so I'm off to sew some more of Possum's new frock.  She's not yet up to doing zips but is about to learn to set a sleeve in her pyjama top.

    Keep warm everyone.  Take care.

Afternoon folks, still cold here but thankfully above freezing. Even had a bit of sunshine on our daily walk this morning. OH is also braving a bus to go into town for an eye test, he's overdue one so thought he'd better get checked. Has to have the glaucoma test as well. I'm not sure quite what to do with myself this afternoon and don't fancy baking. We'll only eat it and get fat! Hope Busy-Lizzie's move is going better. We still haven't heard whether daughter's new rental is proceeding or not, the strain of not knowing is getting to us all as we can't make any plans yet.

Tried to go out for a walk now that the drizzle has stopped ... but we live in an area with lots of NHS workers so quite a few children are being collected from the school at the end of the rise ... so lots of people around, especially harassed parents coping with erratic hard to dodge small people 😂 so we came back ... now it’s time to put the bread in the oven and when that’s done, the cassoulet will go in the oven to be finished off and then the potatoes and sprouts will go on the hob.

This exercise lark isn’t as uncomplicated as it’s made out to be 🤣
