Oo thanks @Dovefromabove. ‘Highlights of 2020’... presumably gardening highlights 😅
Hope you all ok. Thank you for your support messages. The main part of my job is ok, but the critical care shifts are horrendous and the guys are exhausted. Can’t see the end, and we might not have peaked yet, so it’s day by day and take comfort in the little wins. We had some donations of patient toiletries and sweets and drinks for the staff today - so that was a boost.
Hope you're not feeling too bruised @Yviestevie, love the hat @Lyn. I might take up knitting again, looks like the restaurant will be closed for a while yet. 🙄 I might start some Easter things, little egg cosies or something. I hope @Busy-Lizzie us settled in, not trying to unpack all the boxes at once.
Mexican evening went well, & yes 4 stragglers at the end, luckily I made it stretch but they had to do without the ribs, I sent chicken wings instead, I'd got some in the freezer. I've no idea why they can't organise themselves to reserve in advance!
Sat by the fire now with my glass of Perrier, it may be a long month. 😁 Extremely cold out there.
Enjoy your evening all.

Glad your Mexican evening went well @DOrdogne_Damsel. What , only Perrrier! I'd want a stiff drink after that. We've just had steak and chips for a Friday night treat and daughter had veggie pizza and mushrooms. We've polished off the last of the posh Xmas chocs as well, watching GW which was enjoyable in this dark cold spell. It's supposed to get warmer, although wetter next week.
Yes @punkdoc & @tuikowhai34 - of course French, always last minute, I will never understand why. Our New Year's Eve Party (2020) tickets at 50€ each we still sold about 10 late afternoon on the 31st....
As regards January, it's pretty grim for me so far, no alcohol, strict diet, therefore no baking, no work on a day to day basis, no gardening, it's frozen solid out there...if I can get through this I can get through anything. The house is spotless though!
My seeds have all started to sprout too which is as always magical.
Little bit of thigh burn this morning after slightly tougher Joe Wicks keep fitness video yesterday, but actually nowhere near as bad as the first week - must be working.
I have just subscribed to the Gardener's World Magazine and the BBC Food one, need something to get me through these long days, although I expect it will be weeks before the first one turns up. I know I can see stuff on the internet but I do like an magazine to flick through and refer to and the pictures are always inspiring. I am still looking at shrubs too for my shady/damp spot, actually I think I am just enjoying looking at all the pictures and dreaming.
Have a good day all,

Good morning all. I have Internet from Airbox, a little thing that picks it up from a mobile phone signal.
We are moved in and surrounded by boxes, but at least our bed is in our new bedroom.
The move was chaotic and badly organised although the men worked hard. There should have been 4 of them on Monday to pack boxes but they got behind because only 2 were sent. That meant they were loading the last small lorry on Thursday when I was at the Notaires x 2 so they have left stuff behind, they weren't supposed to come on Thursday. They put my house plants in that lorry and left it at the depot when it was -4° in the night. I think the plants may have died, gone soggy. They broke the glass on the grandfather clock, but they will replace it. They finished unloading yesterday.
Must get on, 180 boxes to unpack!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
it’s unusual for us to sleep in this long but we’ve only just woken! 🥱
We were both roused in the night by the road gritter going past the bottom of the Rise and I saw a clear night sky full of stars ... now the world is white and sparkling in the sunshine.
@Busy-Lizzie 🤗 such a shame about your houseplants and the grandfather clock ... but what’s done is done, you’re in your lovely new home and you’re together 🥰... and you have your cosy bed and presumably the makings of breakfast and coffee ☕️ 🥐 ... and you have t’internet 🥳 We’ll raise a glass to you both in your new home this evening and wish you every happiness there 🍷

Possum is cooking so dinner is a bit late and afterwards, no doubt, we'll be watching the new Death in Paradise recorded last night.

I presume the late comers were French, but maybe I am stereotyping.
