Morning all/afties @Pat E. A horrible situation for you @floralies, as if it's not been hard enough for you. I hope you can find a way through it. x The only surprising thing about Trump is that anyone is surprised. If you're going to elect a bully, and gold plated bullsh*tter, you can be surprised when they bully and bullsh*t. Hope your day goes well @AuntyRach . I think our weather is well and truly the opposite of yours @Pat E. I've been out shovelling snow off the cars and the paths Nice dry powdery stuff though, so not difficult. Minus 9 last night though. I think the temps are to go up by Sunday, so perhaps our ground will start to defrost. Been frozen solid for almost two weeks. They've had to break up the local pond with diggers because of idiots skating on it. The one nearer Glasgow has had the same scenario. No cure for dumb.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Interestingly, there are still two more trees over that fence line that we haven’t got to yet. It was all from the one storm that went through. I think we’ll finish with that first one by packing it all into the trailer and bringing it back to the area closer to our living area where we store firewood. It won’t be useable for a couple of years yet.
Good morning all from sunny western Ireland. This is the 8th morning in a row we've woken to temperatures lower than minus 1, not as cold as UK but pretty chilly for this part of the world. Ducks were skating on the lough when we went for our regular walk yesterday...
Annoying to have to cut up your neighbour's trees, @Pat E , especially given your hubby's condition. At least the arisings will keep you warm in a few winters' time.
Agreed about Trump, @Fairygirl . The sooner they can get rid of him the better IMO. Even Pence seems to be considering using the 25th Amendment - which would of course make him President himself, for 12 days or something...
Hope the takeaway goes according to plan, @D0rdogne_Damsel . (You seem to fit twice as much into each day as I can manage.) And not forgetting @Busy-Lizzie - hope all the furniture and boxes fitted in, in the end!
Best wishes to you, @AuntyRach , and anyone else in the forefront of the Covid battle.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
The snow has laid on Dartmoor since the last lot, my mum always said it’s laying for more, and we have more! Garden looks lovely, but the sun may melt if a bit, OH has salted the lane outside , it’s a very steep hill and lots get stuck. Sorry to read about health problems, my OH’s just lost another friend, shook him up a bit this morning. That’s the 3rd friend although this one had cancer, two others hanged themselves, quite common for farmers unfortunately.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Hello everyone, We had snow overnight but it's all gone now. I slipped going to the car this morning so Secondborn has had to organise alternative care for Jonah and Gabriel. No real damage just aches and pains. I've been organising when I need to sow vegetable seeds as I've never grown any before. Had a big delivery yesterday of compost and bags of manure so I'm all ready. Stay warm and safe everyone.
It has been a brilliantly sunny day but absolutely freezing. Bacon, egg, beans and toast for a late brunch to warm our innards and then we headed to La Terrière beach for walkies. Miles of curving beach with golden sands, sparkling sea and murmuring waves and hardly anyone about and no litter. This beach is used for kite carting on one side, surfing in the middle and then a nudist beach beyond that tho not today obviously. everyone we saw was well wrapped up.
Both dogs are now on phytotherapy for arthritis and both are moving a lot more freely so they had a good romp. Chickens on form too when we got back and I took them their treat for today - sliced banana. Still peck my pink wellies tho. The cats are sensible snuggled up asleep.
Hugs to all dealing with bad news or sad news or just general doldrums cos it's that time of year, even without a Covid crisis.

We've had more snow to replace the last lot that had just about melted. Looks good outside but I've got to stay cooped up working. Weekend soon though

off to road test it now, along with the big baggy jumper to match.
At least he has you to cheer him up.
