Hi everyone,  Its still cold here but the snow is thawing.  I'm off to Secondborn's later to pick Jonah up from school and Gabriel up from Nursery.
More bad news in that Mabel and her Dad tested positive for Covid this morning so now they all have it.  Bit worried about Mabel's Dad as he does have asthma and has suffered from chest problems in the past so we will have to wait and see.  Firstborn is a bit better today but Merri is still quite poorly.
My seed potatoes arrived today so I'll be reading up on when to start chitting them.
    Happy Birthday @Allottment Boy

  • It is good to be making improvements @Lizzie27 - the kitchen had a lot of work done on it in March last year, first lockdown, but after a hugely busy summer and yet another lockdown I have taken the opportunity to tweak things again, namely an additional oven, a new bigger hob (gas) and am putting the dishwasher away from the cooking area so the staff cooking and those washing up aren't tripping over each other. Once everything is re- jigged I have got new worktops for it all so now both sides of the kitchen will match and we will have a much longer run for food preparation now the dishwashing has moved over.  A couple of new fridge and freezers and a better way of dealing with the rubbish, (a hygienic hole in the worktop) and it will all be done.

By the way, Chateau de Gateaux will be on TV this week, Channel 4, A Place in the Sun I think the programme is called, they filmed some people opening a business in a nearby town having breakfast on our terrace. I tried very hard to hide behind the camera so hopefully you won't see me, but one of our very efficient waitresses was filmed seating/greeting and taking the order (several times over)  Apparently our episode is being shown sometime this week. All good advertising - Chateau de Gateaux "as seen on TV" .

And being a bored over -seer of workmen I managed to buy myself some plants for my 'hotbed' due in mid February. :)

  • Sorry to hear about your family @Yviestevie, I am hearing this more, I think it's the new variant being more easily transmitted once somebody in the family has it they all get it.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes,  my OH offered to do cake but I  have to watch the sugar intake.  I think we might have butterflyed seabass tonight.

Good afternoon all. Just had a lockdown haircut from OH!!! It’s pretty good. It’s not technically completely even but it looks tidier and will be easier to wash/dry plus it’s only ever in a bun/bunch for work.

That’s exciting about the tv programme @D0rdogne_Damsel !

    Happy Birthday @Allotment Boy 🎉🎂🍾

Hope your family will breeze through their illness @Yviestevie

Take care the rest of you.

@Busy-Lizzie   Yes, unfortunately you cannot just register with a doctor here in France.  A lot of doctors are not accepting new patients so if you can see a doctor - even if you make something up - like a blocked/sore ear, you shouldn't have to go searching when you really do need one.  Do you not do a colon cancer test - you have to go to the doctor to get the "kit" !  I'm afraid that's the French way.  My doctor retired last year and I had the same trouble - first finding one that was accepting new patients.

I would persevere getting registered with Ameli, you can do most paperwork/correspondence on line and not have to go into the Centre, take a ticket and come out with a dose of Covid.
    Good luck!

We’ve set the Virgin box to record @D0rdogne_Damsel  👍
Ive spent a happy couple of hours in the studio working on a birthday ‘card’ painting  for Wonky’s Lovely Hub and a secret Valentine one for OH.  As he’s working in the studio too it’s a bit tricky hiding it from him and working on it when he goes out to exercise or does some work in the study or whatever, then leaving it to dry in my secret hiding place. 🤫
I’ve a couple of friends with birthdays coming up so I’ll have to get started on theirs soon.
