    Evening.

Next year Sewing Bee contestant Hosta??

Do you usually have such extravagant Birthday celebrations @Allotment Boy ? 😂

Enjoying my lockdown week off - today I have done: exercise bike, catching up on tv and then making a Victoria Sandwich, chicken casserole and savoury scones. Obviously the last three cancel out any benefits of the exercise bike bit. Oh well!

I hope your family recover well @Yviestevie, worrying time for you.

Thank you for the info about gas diffusers, @Dovefromabove, I've never heard of them.

I hope @Allotment Boy is enjoying his birthday.

We went to the big DIY and the huge SM 30 mins away. Don't like the SM, Auchan, can't find anything. Bought 2 paper lamp shades for the sitting room as a temporary measure. Bought a load of food, some for the freezer, in case we go into lockdown again. The freezer was fairly empty because of the move.

I made a banana cake, with dried fruit in it, but it's taking ages to cook. Seems the oven here isn't nearly as hot as my lovely Rangemaster was. It's a Samsung.

@Lizzie27, we watched "Escape to the Country" from Norfolk yesterday too. The second house, the thatch, was one that we looked at, but didn't buy as the 3rd bedroom wasn't really a bedroom, it was the landing, and the kitchen was very narrow. It was for sale in 2018, someone bought it in 2019, painted it, put in another downstairs loo and tidied the outside quite a lot then put it back on the market. Our local town was shown.

Just been doing some report writing based on photos taken on site (in a primary school) before the lockdown before last. Noticed that the kitchen power supply panel has a separate switch for a custard boiler. A custard boiler? Big enough to need a separate power supply?
OH has been browsing catering equipment sites ever since in the hope of finding one.

No idea about a custard boiler but if it had to heat enough for a couple of hundred kids it would need to be quite large.   Possum goes doolally whenever she sees a chocolate fountain.

I did get a diffuser recently in Leclerc @Busy-Lizzie.  I loathe Auchan.  Horrid layouts.

We regularly get Chinooks overhead, not just for birthdays though @Allotment Boy :) . They vibrate the house as they pass very low above us as they head back to Odiham, probably also passing over @chicky en route.
  • How exciting @Allotment Boy 🚁🚁🚁

A couple of weeks ago I thought the chimney had fallen from the roof, a massive bang and the whole house vibrated, apparently a plane had gone over breaking the sound barrier, or something technical like that, it was heard for miles.  😱

How very clever @Hostafan1, I can bake standing on my head but can't even thread a needle, if fact I don't think I own a needle. I do knit a bit, but only little novelty gifts, never quite managed a jumper. I have knitted some nice cushion covers in the past, but sewing nope, beyond me.

Early start tomorrow with the school run and then over seeing duties in the kitchen again. The new cooker is coming tomorrow too. I have managed to mislay my steam cleaner, I've searched all the obvious places, a lot of head scratching going on, it's not like it's tiny, and it's bright yellow. 🙄

On a more positive not I have managed to find the receipt for the faulty vacuum cleaner and it's now gone back to the shop for 'investigation'. Time to get the brush out. 😱

Ever onwards....catch up tomorrow with you all sometime. 😘

  • In the first lockdown we noticed Chinooks going over but one at a time and in the distance.  We haven't  seen any for a while.  I'm no expert on these things but I think they use them for transporting supplies,  maybe they are transporting vaccine! I agree they make the house shake 😂

  • Morning all,

Wet here again and stuck indoors, gosh this seems like a long winter. 🙄

However, positive news, I've found the steamer, I'd lent it to a friend and she gave it to another friend who'd promised to drop it back and forgotten, original friend is out of the country. It's now being dropped back off. I was starting to think I'd gone mad thinking I'd owned one when I hadn't.

    Hope everyone is well,

Going to try and find something to keep me occupied, need something to gee me up, difficult sitting in a partial building site, nowhere to even do my exercise workout. 🙄

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
    Well done @D0rdogne_Damsel ... steamer recovered 👍
Today I must start the car and run the engine for 15 mins as advised by the AA. Son says I should also put the roof up and down and rub the seal with Vaseline. I don’t suppose the car has travelled 1000 miles in the last 12 months, if that ...

We get chinooks flying over here, too. Very distinctive sound (actually you feel it more than hear it, don't you?) - makes the dog bark. We're not - as the hercules flies - very far from a marine base so I assume that's where they are going/coming from.

    Raining again here. Ho hum
