Hi everyone horrible wet & miserable day here too. I did do my stint at Capel as the senior gardener was teaching 2 of the apprentices how to prune some very neglected Acers, so I "sat" in on the session. Hope tomorrows forecast snow doesn't settle.
Evening. Back from my training course. It was freezing cold today so I am having trouble warming-up. There is a lasagne cooking away and I intend to go double-carbs and have some garlic bread with it.
I hope everyone is ok. Take care those with icy/snowy conditions forecast.
It has been raining off and on all day here and been very dull and now the wind is getting excitable too. I went to check the chooks and found them all huddled in their shed so I called to them to follow me to the polytunnel where they could enjoy light and space and warmth and a good dust bath. They all followed but inside their pen! Doh!
Went and fetched them and they all huddled up behind me like a flock of little ducklings but very leased to be given a treat of a tin of sweetcorn. I moved their feed and water distributors in and they were very happy. All tucked up in bed again now. I expect they'll get the idea soon enough and head for the PT on their own when we let them out in the mornings.
Found lamb kidneys at the SM today so OH and I will be treating ourselves to devilled kidneys on toast for lunch. Possum will have a bacon butty. I rather fancy some garlic bread now @AuntyRach but it's a "thin" day so wholemeal penne with simple fresh tomato sauce......
Hope you're OK @WonkyWomble. Always sad when you have to let them go but kinder. Remember the good times and how much better off he was once you adopted him and cared for him. Cosmos pussy is on antibiotics again after a spat with a feral cat left him with holes from claw marks. How the unloved cats deal with the inevitable abscesses and other injuries for fights is anyone's guess.

That was why Wonky adopted Flatters @Obelixx ... he was getting so many injuries and abscesses and she was taking him to the vet and spending a mint on him so she took him in, had his baubles removed, gave him his jabs and wormed and de-flead him and that meant he stopped having fights and injuries and infections and he stopped being a surly edgy shed cat and was a happy cat for the rest of his life.

Another busy day at the office. I've decorated quite a few cakes today whilst curry was simmering away. I have taken control of my creative side and made them all the same with a simple but effective (I think) design. With so many to do it really is the most efficient use of my time. I will however push the boat out for our personal Christmas cake, Charlie has spotted a very nice design I may or may not be up to, but I do like a challenge.
Charlie's trousers finally turned up from M&S, in my favour they had decided they were lost and had given me a full refund, so although we waited 5 weeks he now has 5 pairs of trousers and 5 vests for free.
As I was waiting for another delivery I left the door to the tearoom ajar whilst I was in working in the kitchen - I heard voices and went into the Tearoom - two Dutch people were sat there patiently waiting for a waitress to appear, fully expecting to be served - despite the fact that all bars and restaurants are closed until at least the 20th of January in France - what planet are these people on? The tearoom was in darkness, the chairs and tables mostly stacked up on themselves and not a soul in sight....bless them.
Poor Flatters, @WonkyWomble, shame, but again you saw to it that he has a good end.
Hugs and hellos to everyone else, off to bed now, onion bhajis and prawn skewers to get organised early tomorrow and of course ore mince pies and more cake decorating. So grateful people are being supportive of us.

Cosmos has been a well loved pussy since birth @Dovefromabove tho we got him thru a rescue organisation who'd given someone a pregnant cat without knowing. He has all his jabs, all his worming and flea stuff and has been castrate but still gets in trouble cos he expects other pussies to be nice too. Makes it fairly easy to give him his antibiotics though and his wounds look clean and dry.
Can't tell you how much we've spent in the past on adopting strays needing major vet interventions for all sorts of stuff but, like Flatters, at least they had some love for a while.
I expect @Fairygirl is feeling a bit blue about foul weather and lack of access to hills for months.

I called my cat’s ‘baubles’ pom-poms! They were just like the little pom-poms I had on a cushion.
I hope Cosmos heals up ok.
