Hello again.  Bonzo has been felt and twiddled and it's an arthritic crisis in his hips which are blocked - probably due to changes in weather to cold and very wet - so she's given him a jab of anti-inflammatories and some meds for th enext 5 days.  If that helps, fine.  If not, plant based meds for life.  If only human arthritis were so simple.  He's much happier now but is allowed no bouncing or running and just quiet 30 minute walks.

Drove home thru a sunny spell after a downpour and it was beautiful with the sun glistening in bare branches and plenty of autumn foliage still clinging on and golden.  Our wisterias have finally started shedding their leaves in earnest and there's a stupid wood pigeon nest - relative of Dave @Fairygirl - which is just mad as it's a favourite perch of Minstrel's, she being a very active and agile pussycat.

Lunch now - fish soup cos it's cold and the skies have darkened for the next downpour - and dinner will be something hearty and comforting too and involving garlicky mashed potato with a bit of skirlie mixed thru.   Experiment.

Glad your curry night went well @D0rdogne_Damsel.  Don't forget to order your haggis well in advance of December 31st if you're considering doing a Burn's night in January.

    Good day all.

Freezing but raining this morning. Snow on the mountains looks pretty but it can stay up there thank you.

MIL making me some Christmas face masks today! Crumbs- people will think my humbug has disappeared. I am going to do a few decorations and lights today too 😱

Just had my invite for the vaccine!!

    Have a good weekend all.
My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • Good news re vaccine @AuntyRach. Been pretty bright here this morning so we went for a walk . Was "almost" pleasantly warm in the couple of bits where there's no wind -- but the wind is chilly . Happy to see a bit of blue sky though :) and it seems a couple of degrees warmer than predicted too .

Changed our phone/broadband contract last week and got a new router to set up. Of course it needs a different cable from the one I last installed to get from where the cable enters the house to the other side of the room where we want the router to sit. Luckily we have some old hot air ducts under the floor which we can pass cables through but unfortunately the access points at either end were now behind two large bookcases which had to be emptied before they could be moved. Next up 50 bottles of cider maturing in the old heater cupboard had to be temporarily evicted to access the ducts. Amazing how much dust and cobwebs accumulate in and behind furniture - you would think we never did any housework ;)

Then it was the turn of all the devices to have their wifi settings changed - PC, laptop, tablet, mobile phone, TV, Freeview box, various Nintendos all done but there may be a couple more I have forgotten. Fingers crossed it all seems to be working now. We even managed to put a few old books in the recycling.

The mere thought of all that disruption fills me with horror @steephill. We were considering changing our broadband provider as my OH has been without access to his emails for a fortnight now and we're not getting any joy out of Plusnet so far. Think we'll threaten to change first and see if that galvanises them. It's really odd because my emails are fine.

  • @Lizzie27 could it be an Apple/Outlook comparability problem? I and several people I know have been having real problems the last couple of weeks with them failing synchronize and then
    locking me out 😖

@Dovefromabove, probably not, as we don't have Apple. The call centre chappie said it was a fault their end which they were working on - several days ago! I'll wait till Monday and have another go at them.

Sorry, very rude of me, don't think I have said hello today.
Cold wet and generally horrible here, so just been keeping warm and reading.

  • Evening all,

A more relaxing day today, although I'm astonished how many people keep popping in to see if we're open, I managed to sell 100€ of takeaway cakes (from the freezer) whilst marzipaning yet more Christmas Cakes.

@Allotment Boy, I have absolute sympathy for your wife, takeaway meals involve thinking about so many different elements it certainly gets complicated.

I've spent  the late afternoon reading by the fireside and done a simple but comforting sausage and mash for tea with thick onion gravy and green beans. Served with lots of wholegrain mustard - and red wine.😊
I must finish Christmas card writing tomorrow.

Apparently the French are very sceptical about this vaccine @AuntyRach, I've no idea why. I hope for you and all your colleagues it takes off some pressure, I'd certainly have it should it be offered.

Meant to say too @Dovefromabove and @Fairygirl, I've been listening to radio 2 this week in the kitchen, namely the Ken Bruce show, gosh that Popmaster quiz is tough. 😅 😱 I'm now very impressed with your scores. I do get the feeling though that poor Ken gets a bit bored/cheesed off with some contestants. Must be terribly repetitive for him at times - who do you want to say hello to.....

@Obelixx, glad to hear treatment is hopeful for Bozo.

@Lizzie27 nice pic of pudding, very civilised size, I think I'd need two portions though. 😅

    Have a good evening all.
