  • Grrr!  I've just spent a frustrating aeon (well not quite but it felt like it) tussling with the confusion which is my Microsoft password/pin conundrum on this laptop ... probably my fault ... I think I've confused my phone and my laptop pins.  At last Ive got into my laptop .... large coffee needed ...

Happy December everyone.  Possum asked last night if, now it's come, we could put up Xmas lights already.  Not till after OH's birthday next Monday and not soon after that either if I have my way or I get fed up with it all.   She can have some in her room if she wants.

We have sunshine.  It is supposed to be cloudy today and I had planned to start on a marathon window cleaning session.   I can see huge, fat, heavy, dark clouds all round but it's blue overhead and where the sun is. Fine.  I'll do something else.

@punkdoc I hope you can get things sorted out.  The NHS can and does work wonders but, all too often, it doesn't do joined up thinking.  Cases like this are inexcusable - patients should come first.

Happy birthday @Hostafan1 .   Hope you perk up soon.

That's a terrible way to treat an old lady @punkdoc, I do hope you manage to get something sorted today.

Happy Birthday @Hostafan1 - hope you have sunshine today to cheer you up.

I'm with you on Xmas decs Obelixx, I only put mine up the weekend before Xmas and they come down on New Year's Day.

  • Happy December,  the wind came last night & blew all the clouds away so we have a cold bright day at last.
Happy Birthday to @Hostafan1, hope your recovery is progressing.  @punkdoc hope you get things sorted for your mum soon.
Just back from doing a click & collect at PC World off the N circular,  I hate that area but no one else had what I wanted in stock. Serves me right for leaving it late.

    Hi all

Have managed to sort out a district nurse, who will visit mum everyday until next week, and little sis has organised for another Social Services review. The hospital will take her catheter out and if ok will discharge later this afternoon.

    Word of the day: apricity.

    Good afternoon to you all.
                        Décembre:  Le mois de l'Avent
                                          C'est pluie ou vent.

Quatre mois dure le grand froid
The 1st December is the saint's day for all named Eloi.  (Not that I know  of any - pretty old name, I'd be thinking!)

It is cold here, windy and spitting.  So we're in for it!!

  • Well done @punkdoc 👍  and thanks for 'apricity' too ... didn't know that one

Mild apricity here @punkdoc, being just 10C.  Dry so I shall get an old table sanded down and mended for Possum to use as a desk while she's here.  Doesn't like our "study" which is tucked under the eaves and has only a small window.  We only use it for filing, storage of Xmas decs and hiding the printer.

@tuikowhai34    In Belgium Ste Eloi is patron of metal workers of any kind from engravers to blacksmith and steel workers, anyone who uses a hammer to work and miners too so it's traditionally a big feast day awash with boozy dinners and gatherings.   Gembloux, our nearest town, was the Belgian equivalent of Sheffield for cutlery and surgical instruments and still gets excited on St Eloi tho the last factory closed decades ago.

Not this year I suspect tho some will no doubt go out to play.

Well done for getting your Mum sorted @punkdoc, it's a pity though it takes an awful lot of jumping up and down to get there, it can't be doing your BP much good either.

So pleased to hear your Mum is getting the attention she needs @punkdoc, love the word "apricity", I must drop it into a sentence or two.
