@Balgay.Hill I think a lot of us will have an unusually quiet Christmas ... so let’s make a point of popping in here and saying merry Christmas to each other and sharing a virtual mince pie 🥧 🎄

It's my birthday in January too @Dovefromabove, not until the end though. 🙄
For me January is short dark days and very quiet at work, well it certainly will be this time as Macron is saying no restaurants open until at least the 20th of January. Always a bit of a worry taking enough to pay the basic overheads and wages. Perhaps this year it won't be so bad, at least I know where I'm at and the government are supposed to be helping with overheads at least.
I've bought some seeds so I'm going to spend my time playing with them and to refill a cleared flowerbed.
And maybe a diet of healthy food, no wine and extra exercise - but only after all mince pies are gone, virtual it otherwise. 😅
It probably won't help @Balgay.Hill but knowing so many people are going to struggle this year with Christmas I'm hoping a lot of the usual hype will be toned down, maybe more thoughts about being kind to people than spending a fortune on tat.

Morning all/afties, evening @Pat E if you're there I think I'm one of the few people here who actually likes winter, but I'm aware that it can be a difficult time for many @Balgay.Hill. Keep popping in here, and think about the positives. Not long to go until the days lengthen and you can plan new things for the garden too I've instantly forgotten everything else I've read. Hopeless tart I disturbed the shirty blackbird when I took the food out. She's discovered the little bit near the back door and the poor dunnocks are getting a right skelping if they dare to interrupt her. They must wonder what they've done to deserve it - the robin's bad enough! I caught her mooching around Dave's spot yesterday. She had a right face on 'er
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
My birthday is within a few days of Dove (as we realised last year), so January is a busy month. @Dovefromabove I am sure gd will recover quickly (she is 12) the concerns are other members of her family who are more vulnerable. After taking her for the test her dad took shopping to his mother who is in their bubble, is just one example.
@Balgay.Hill a single malt will go down very nicely I’m sure ... and I think @punkdoc will partake too 🥃. I’ve got a litre bottle of sloe gin I made some years ago now ... we finished its predecessor last winter so I’ll need a bit of help tackling this one.
I know @Fairygirl and a few others will prefer a cuppa so we’ll have the kettle on too 🫖
Yes @D0rdogne_Damsel and Allotment Boy, the end of Jan will be a time for more celebrations 🥳 🥂
Finally, a bit of time in the garden today. Don't care if it rains, I'm doing a stint!
Despite tiers, lockdowns, advice and guidance, I reffed a game yesterday. Felt like I shouldn't be there (120+ miles round trip) but it was all perfectly 'essential', apparently
Got a text saying my raspberry canes were finally getting delivered last Wednesday but they never came. The tracker said the driver was "delayed". It updated yesterday to say that the "driver failed to gain access to the delivery address" on a 2nd attempt. Not sure what stopped him - no wall, fence or gate to negotiate. The sheep and dogs don't seem to have any access problem! The house was empty for just over an hour so it would be a good effort from them to try and deliver in that small window, when there has been somebody at home every hour of every day since March!!!
There's no signature required so just put them round the side of the house (as it says you will do) you ****
Hi again everyone - too many to write all your names 😊. Happy birthday Dove. Don’t drink too much 🙄
I’ve been taking photos of my roses and putting them on the Jigsawplanet site. It’s taken lots of time, but passes the day. I know it’s hard to believe, but our weather has turned cold! I think I need to get a cardigan out to snuggle into. The weather is really topsy turvey lately.
