Funny old day today.  It's grey and dull and the light is very flat and I had another bad night with the stupid arthritic knee throbbing.   Cold and damp not good.

Haircut this pm. 30cms lopped off but no Samson effect so far.

@Liriodendron - take your time.  I had huge plans when we moved here but the weather hasn't been as predicted with long droughts, early heatwaves, first snow in over 10 years and huge differences in soil quality and depth around the plot.  Can't tell you how much I've done, undone, re-done and not done while I work it out and just as I thought I'd got it sussed we had that tornado as a feature of storm Alex.    I suspects funds I'd ear-marked for a big central terrace and perfumed pergola surround for shade will end up fixing that instead.

@Busy-Lizzie it's hard work but you'll feel happier and freer in your new home with no, or very little, clutter.   Can you get Emmaus to come and fetch furniture you don't need?  Better than just chucking it.

Too late to start gardening now so I shall go and take some eggs to Annik and then sort thru Xmas decs in case I need to make a few more.

Take care everyone and stay warm.

@Obelixx, most of the furniture that I didn't want has now found homes with my children and a couple of friends. Some was in bad condition and went in the skip. My buyers said I could leave anything left for them as they will be here for a month before moving their stuff from Holland. They will have a single bed, an extra mattress, a shelving unit, a kitchen table, some chairs, a fridge and a small freezer. I'm leaving the dishwasher and range as well. I will miss the Rangemaster, but there is a fitted electric oven and gas hob at the new house.

I've been cleaning under and behind furniture today, don't want a nasty dirty shock on moving day.

That's bad luck about the honey fungus @Liriodendron. I hope you enjoy sorting it all out and planting the pretty beds in the spring. Not much one can do at the moment anyway with the weather the way it is.

Oooooh @Busy-Lizzie No space anywhere in the new place?   Couldn't leave my Rangemaster behind.  It's here and has been installed in the annex as spare oven and grill facilities and the hob is handy when I'm doing hours of tomato processing.    Apart from anything else the built-in oven in my new kitchen has that pyroliser feature when turned off so it's hopeless for making pavlova or any other squidgy meringues.

The new buyers had their own dishwasher too so our old one is installed here in the pantry/scullery and is a good thing to have when we have guests.

Sounds like you will be very busy next year @Liriodendron, although the honey fungus problem must have been a nasty shock. Having said that, I believe we have it here although fortunately only at the far side of the garage so it might only be affecting a hazel tree and privet hedge so far. I don't propose to do anything about if for the present.
Looks like I might be storing some of my daughter's furniture soon as it won't all fit in with the new flat if she gets it. Good news today is that her Company have confirmed her new job (albeit at reduced pay) so it will tide her over for a while.
I've promised her a small dishwasher if it can be squeezed in somewhere.

Evening. Been a tad busy with work. It’s a bit bonkers.

In other news, it’s blooming chilly here so making some meatballs to warm up.

    Take care all.

  • Evening all,

Hello @Liriodendron, nothing like gardening to keep you occupied is there, physically and mentally. 🙄😁

Good news for your daughter @Lizzie27, I suppose a poorly paid job is better than no job. Fingers crossed all goes through ok with the flat.
@Busy-Lizzie, I do hope your buyers appreciate how much effort you've put it to make it easier for them, it's very thoughtful of you. Nearly there now hopefully.

I've been designing cupcakes today or redesigning pictures I've seen to match ingredients available, my Snowman has also been Frenchified, with his own little beret. The Christmas tree has a little surprise cache of mini Smarties inside the end of an ice cream cone. I've got a couple of dozen ordered already, so that's good news. Another lady has also ordered 30 birthday cupcakes today too, so I'm definitely not getting bored during this lockdown. 😊

Evening all,  I've been lazy all day today following my Nanna Duty yesterday.  All the baked goods are making me feel very hungry for something nice.
Nothing exciting to chat about today.  Have a good evening everyone.

  • Hello @Yviestevie. Do help yourself....the Christmas Trees are chocolate flavour and the gingerbread men are caramel. 😁 Bizarrely I bought some Pain Épicé biscuits in Lidl today, 1.99€ for a huge bag, and actually are very tasty.
I'm pretty sure Nanna duty as enjoyable as it is I also pretty exhausting.

  • Those look amazing, @D0rdogne_Damsel.  You're very talented!   :)

I seem to be emerging from the "slough of despond"...  Finished the Christmas cards this morning, then spent a profitable afternoon sanding skirting boards.  The cat seemed to find it necessary to trek through the dust several times while I was working, distributing it around the house...   :/

Those cupcakes look amazing DD, I thought you said you weren't any good at decorating.
Glad to hear that Lirio - you and me both.
