Quite! It seems our barns are proper farmer built so the current beams and roof structure are set in the walls in the wrong place so the remaining beams need removing, the walls need repairing and capping and then new wooden structures, waterproofing layer and coverings to satisfy his professional standards (and insurance) and make the barns sound again. In fact they'll be so sound we could then apply to make them into habitations for a home or gîte at a later date and without needing planning permission.......

I don't like ginger wine or ginger beer. I haven't been drinking wine with meals while OH is away but I do sometimes have a cream sherry before dinner.
I thought you always need planning permission in France for anything over 30m3. Have you had several quotes @Obelixx?
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
No @Busy-Lizzie. Nearly 40 companies contacted but only one interested in or capable of fixing a traditional agricultural building. Even the ones who do modern metal framed roof structures weren't interested.
It seems that if the footings are there and on the "plan cadastre" we can build what we like, even where a building has been completely razed, and the commune can't stop us.

Well, it’s Saturday afternoon here and we’ve done absolutely nothing today except watch the ABC news channel and eat unhealthy food.
Hubby got a piece of pickled pork from the butcher yesterday, so that’s on tonight’s menu. Not my absolute favourite, but ok.
Obelixx, the only thing I put in those flat traps was a pkt of fly bait and water. I think the resultant stink from the dead and dying flies is now enough to attract more blow flies. 😩
The weather is a bit cold but manageable so we’ve stayed inside.
The last few nights we’ve been re-watching all of the Death in Paradise series. I must say I’d forgotten how enjoyable they all are and I’d mostly forgotten the endings of most of them. The current offerings on TV are hopeless at this time.
Best wishes to all who have problems. Hope things get better soon.
Good morning all ... hello @Pat E 😊 ☕️ I love pickled pork ... rarely available here nowadays 😞 Death in Paradise is a great bit of escapist fun on a dull day 🏝

I have read back but haven't much time to comment. Needless to say hugs to those that need them and happy to see things are improving for others. Ever onwards as they say.
The Christmas rush for cakes has suddenly gone up a gear and also I am doing a Takeaway Christmas Lunch tomorrow and can I find sprouts anywhere - no, of course not, they were there last week.....off on a mission now, catch up later hopefully, although it may well be much later - like next week.

I would offer to send you some sprouts @D0rdogne_Damsel but I don't think that they would get to you in time, especially judging by the lorry queues in Kent. I won't need as many as I have grown now Christmas is cancelled-🙁
