Afternoon all, It's been a bright sunny day here so far. Nothing planned today. Went to Secondborn's yesterday to look after boys. She woke up with a neck/back problem and could hardly move. She's much better today and has managed to get to work and the boys are at school/nursery. After 3 days on Nanna Duty I'm shattered to not planning to do much. I might do some baking later.
Glad to hear you are feeling a bit brighter @WonkyWomble. Hugs
Morning all. We still miss our beloved cat after more than ten years, @WonkyWomble. He was such a character we've agreed not to get another one as he just couldn't be replaced. We are enjoying having daughter's cat on temporary loan however while she's living with us, even if he's clawing the carpets to bits. We've just enjoyed our usual walk but with lots of oohing and aahing, OH with a gammy knee and me with painful right hip - a right old pair! Dread to think how long I might have to wait for a hip op. Wanted to get out there this morning, the hellebore leaves need cutting off but it's now drizzling so they'll have to wait. The countdown has started @Busy-Lizzie, hope the time doesn't drag too much between today and the 18th. I'm in awe of your energy levels and cooking skills DD, wish I had both.
I've cleared out the garden machinery shed where I also keep electric fencing. Filled a big dustbin bag with rubbish and swept up a barrow load of dead leaves.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Thank you for your kind comments about my cakes, I must admit it is a labour of love and therefore no hardship to do really, although the numbers have been a little daunting at times.
Regards the comment about M&S, funnily enough, earlier in the year when I was 'rebranding' CdeG as a restaurant and "not just a Tearoom" I recorded an advert for the radio imitating the M&S advert complete with husky voice, the English people 'got it' I think, perhaps not the French people, it was a bit like a secret joke.
I'm glad to hear you're feeling a bit better @WonkyWomble, terribly sad losing a furry friend, they are just always by your side so missing them is very real & ongoing.
Fingers crossed OH gets across with no problems @Busy-Lizzie , awfully long time to be apart.
I am off to do a bit of Christmas gift shopping now, our Tourist Information centre has done a fabulous job of turning itself into an outlet where local producteurs can sell their products, usually they would be in Christmas markets and the like but so many have been cancelled they are all struggling. I just hope the things are not too expensive, nice as they are it can be a bit prohibitive at times. Luckily I only have a few people I buy for and often give home baked cakes or biscuits. I just have one friend in Lille that it is tricky to send cakes to. Nice idea of the T.I anyway and they have been all over the radio and social media advertising it. There are certainly no tourists so it is good use of their store too.
After that I am making a Cheese & Onion Pie for dinner, I just fancy it and I have loads of cheese here in the tearoom sitting there doing nothing - the big argument seems to be whether or not it should have potato in it..... answers on a postcard please.

Well it makes a change to get something right for once. We had Christmas cards to post OH reminded me that the post box at the end of the road only gets emptied early am. So we decided to walk to local shops where there's a box that is emptied several times a day. We just got back when the rain started, only a 45 min round trip but it got us out.
Proper Lancashire cheese and onion pie has no potatoes @D0rdogne_Damsel and chef Simon Hopkinson, from Bury originally, agrees.
@WonkyWomble every cat we've owned has had its own personality and all were much loved. Our latest pair are no exception with very different characters from each other and their predecessors. Of course they leave a hole when they go but in time the happy memories will be bigger than that hole.
It is wet grey and mis here so last of the Xmas cards for me and then sewing. I hope everyone is OK or no worse than before and that things improve for those who have health or other worries for themselves and/or loved ones. Hugs to all.

Evening everyone and thank you all so very much for your kind words regarding the loss of Flatters McCatters, I've been very warmed by everyone's kindness. 😀 It's been a nice day, I work for a children's nursery in Felixstowe as one of my customers and today we made festive door decorations with foliage and bows with the children. They had a great time and the parents were very impressed! 😀 time to get dinner on now. Have a lovely evening everyone 😀
