    Morning all,

Got the standard overnight rainfall but it just looks damp now. It all feels a bit S2D2 here :(

New job started last week but not so that you would notice :o Going to be working from home for a bit, assuming I have any work to do.

  • Morning all -- well I was kept awake by the wind too , but you can't see much of the night sky where I am. Red or reddish orange planet can't be anything but Mars -- albeit I thought was in the east this Nov for those of us in the UK lucky enough to see it.

As an aside , I messed up my ligaments and cartilage on my right knee about 10 yrs ago , and found PhysioRoom Elite Hinged Knee BraceĀ (physioroom.com)Ā  Ā to be extremely useful and cheaper than similar spec other braces ( I've never had knee surgery , that knee is still not perfect , I no longer use it regularly butĀ  on uneven terrain it makesĀ  me much more stable)Ā  -- to be clear I am not a medic and have no physioroom affiliation , just something that I found useful in case it helps others.

Mine are hinged braces too @Desi_in_London. Can't remember where I got them, but I reckoned they were worth the money if it enabled me to get back out walking. It's a bit of a faff getting them on and off, but without them, I can't do anything major, especially multi hill days.
Off now for a wee walk round the doors. Hopefully, we might be allowed toĀ  go a bitĀ  further afield soon, although I'm not holding my breath....

  • 100% agreedĀ  @Fairygirl on all counts. Bit grey here but hopefully can at least get out for a walk around the block.Ā

    Hi all

Another night of no sleep, starting to get very hacked off. Can't sleep at night, but easy during the day, becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. So much to do outside, but no energy.

Anyway enough of my negativity, stay well, be kind.Ā

Fortunately as we live in Norfolk scrambling up mountains doesn’t often happen (although the area where we live is quite hilly ... for Norfolk ... as I found when I got my bike out of the garage when I retiredšŸ™„). My knee usually deconstructs when changing direction on flat surfaces, lawns, tennis courts city streets, restaurants 😳

Already today two big jars of spiced pickled pears have been done and yesterday’s roast chicken has been deconstructed and the carcass is simmering for stock ... chicken salad and jacket potatoes for supper today and chicken and leek pie tomorrow with some of the stock, plus soup ... four meals (8 servings) plus soup out of one chicken šŸ˜‡Ā
ive also got a butternut squash chunked and roasting as it had a soft spot, undiscovered by OH when he bought it on Thursday. We’ll bag the chunks up and freeze them to use later. Now all I have to do is whizz around here with a duster and give the floor a quick swish with the waxed mop and the day is mine ā€˜cos OH has given Ā the bathroom a scrub. šŸ˜ŽĀ

Hi all. Our weather today was hot and windy. It whittled down the chimney quite often. Lucky we aren’t lighting it now. Ā Very unpleasant day. I only wandered out a couple f times to check what needed a drink and to check the broad beam aphids. Everything is looking a bit stressed out there.Ā
Obelixx, I’ll keep your suggestion in mind for the aphids.Ā

I’ve packed up early and gone to bed with my book.Ā

Hello Forkers.Ā  Late on parade today after a dreadful night being kept awake by a stupid knee, cramps, noisy winds which I shall no doubt find worrying for a while until the barns are sorted and maybe after that too.

However, it is sunny and mild and OH has been out raking up leaves at the front.Ā  Very nosy chooks when he takes his barrowload down to the leaf composter in their potager.Ā  I found that naughty Cosmos sitting on the tree stum pin their pen and two worried chooks the other side of him so have asked Possum to research Cosmos training.Ā  Sh ecan add it to Bonzo and Rasta training.Ā  Ā Minstrel goes down there too but she always has - sparrows nest in the hen house roof and she finds that very absorbing but doesn't bother the chooks.

I hope you get a decent walk @Fairygirl, even if it's not a hill.Ā  Ā Sounds like a busy and productive day for you @Dovefromabove and @D0rdogne_Damsel.Ā  Hope you get thru your day OK @AuntyRach and sleep better tonight.

Need to reset your clock @punkdoc !Ā  Hugs to all who need them and greetings to all not mentioned by name.Ā  Hope all is well.

    Hello all.
The skip is full! I just have a few old video cassettes and books to sort in my bedroom. OH will do the tool room when he gets back but he'll have to go to the tip with rubbish.Ā  I have lost 2lbs, my arthritic fingers are more swollen than usual and I have back ache. The skip is being collected tomorrow. Now I needn't bore you with it any more.Ā

Good for you @Busy-Lizzie, if not for you back and fingers. After the skip is gone tomorrow, perhaps you can just relax for a few days.

Sorry to hear about your knee pain again @Obelixx, not good when it keeps you awake at night. OH is doing his physio exercises for his bad knee but hasn't detected any improvement yet but it's early days. Training a cat not to bother the chooks might be interesting!
Daughter's cat likes sitting on our front windowsill watching the birds on the feeder but so far has not shown much interest in going outside - fortunately. Weather's been too bad lately to have another go in his harness.Ā
