We had a brief shopping trip to town. Needed to fill the car with fuel because we are taking Pixel up to Canberra tomorrow 😭😢😢😢. We will miss her. Never mind we will get together again another time.
A horrid wet day ... but we have to go out and take the car for her MOT ... there is a room at the garage where we can wait ... or we can go go a walk around that end of the city ... not really appealing in the rain but needs must ... Hurrah! The coffeemaker has gone downstairs to make the drinks ☕️ ☕️

Beautiful here again, apparently it's going to be 20 degrees later and fine most of the week. Definitely gardening opportunities.
Feeling a little bit apprehensive as Charlie has gone back to school today despite lockdown. I am sure it's for the best but he has said that the rules regarding distancing had not been followed, especially in the queues for lunch and the corridors. The school have said they will be stricter and have now changed it so the kids stay in one classroom and only the one teacher moves down the corridor. Good to know they are trying at least. There is also a national tribute/explanation and minute's silence taking place in honour of the teacher that was murdered a few weeks ago. I am hoping they are careful about what they say. At the time of the Charlie Hebdo killings I was helping in Charlie's then primary school and again there was a national assembly. I am afraid I wasn't impressed with the biased and misleading speech the head teacher gave, of course they were angry and upset but she was addressing primary age kids and I found the tone very inappropriate. We have discussed it at home with Charlie, pointing out that extremism is causing the problem not the muslim religion itself. All very difficult.
Hope the car passes her test @Dovefromabove and you don't get too wet. Btw I am a Delia Smith fan as far as Christmas cookery is concerned.
You definitely seem to be making good progress @Busy-Lizzie, well done for staying motivated.
The house is going to seem a bit empty for you for a while isn't it @Pat E, I am sure you will find something to do, you have so many interests, but I understand how you will feel, hopefully the next visit won't be too far off.
Right the garden beckons. Have a good day all.

Morning all/afties @Pat E. You'll miss your wee pal. Always difficult when addressing children in those circumstances @D0rdogne_Damsel, because the language has to be appropriate. Parents really have to step up and enlarge on it, but I expect some are better at that than others. You've clearly got a handle on that. It's been a hideous time for France recently. It's bad enough for so many young people, without having that to deal with. I'm not surprised you're worried about him going back to school, but he seems to be a very sensible, responsible lad. Rock and hard place. I worry about my girls every time they go to work, and they're twice his age.
Wet again here, although just light stuff just now, but the wind has dropped so it's a bit steadier. It might even clear up a bit later on, so there's a chance of doing something outside for a little while. I have one new clematis that can go in as I've taken the sweet peas out.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Morning all. Another good night's sleep, maybe the being awake in the early hours is at an end. Must get another load of bedding washing on the line, showers are forecast for tomorrow.
I hope Charlie will be OK and enjoy going to school @D0rdogne_Damsel and that the school will take care about distancing and meal times. My daughter 2, who teaches English in a secondary school, said that meal times were chaos, 40 sitting together without distancing. I hope they improve now France is in lockdown.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
It's wet and windy now after a sunny start but should be dry and warm later on. I was planning to plant my garlic and shallots today but the soil will be too wet after yesterday's drenching so I shall sew and potter indoors. Planting tomorrow then.
The wind blowing between the open front annex door (to let Rasta come back in) and the open kitchen back door (OH feeding birds) slammed the doo between kitchen and annex with such force the locking mechanism sheared. I unscrewed the whole handle and lock pieces to see if we could turn it but no, the sneck is in the hole in the frame and not shifting. OH and brute force followed. We now need a new door..............
Never did believe all those film and TV scenes where our hero shoulders doors and they just give.
I hope Charlie's OK going back to school @D0rdogne_Damsel. Courage, as they say here, @Busy-Lizzie and OH. Hope you have some fun in Canberra when you go @Pat E or are you just dropping off Pixel and coming home? Hope you get a dry walk @Fairygirl and yes, even when they're adults we worry, don't we?

Hello again ... we're back and Lola has her MOT certificate ... we took folding chairs with us and sat in a fenced off area outside and read with our masks onwhile the nice mechanic did what he had to do and he brought the paperwork and the paying machine out to us so we didn't have to go into the office. They're a good crew and they like Lola ... as they say, she's getting on a bit but she's a lovely car . We'll book her in for a service before we go down to Cornwall again, whenever that may be ...

That's all good then @Dovefromabove, very organized of you to take the chairs too. 😁
I've busied myself digging over the veggie patch, probably a waste of time at this point in the year but at least I felt I was in control of my own destiny for a bit. If it keeps me sane it's a worthwhile exercise. This little fella appreciated my efforts too, he's had a good rummage about on the freshly dug earth. 😁
