Thanks @Dovefromabove.Ā I shall investigate.Ā There was a chap at mosaic class who said he might know someone but then the first lockdown happened and he didn't reappear in September.
I have been out and planted the last of the garlic and all the shallots.Ā Found OH with all 6 hens at his feet as he forked over the last stretch of bed and then half came to help me when I raked the first bit level.Ā One suffered being stroked, muttering all the while.Ā Then OH went off to turn his loose compost heaps behind the polytunnel and there was much excited crooning and scraping.
Minstrel came too but is not a hen botherer but she has found the hens' dust baths in the polytunnel and reckons they are perfect for pussies too.Ā Ā Filthy!Ā Ā The dogs are not allowed in the potager anymore but ran all round the edges occasionally barking at the hensĀ so Possum has a new job - teaching them their poultry manners.Ā
Hi folks. Bit of a problem today. Secondborn has been sent home from school with suspected COVID. They have quite a few staff off she was the last in the art dept. Iāve had the boys at their dads house. Not ideal but no choice. She should get the result of her test in the next 48 hrs. Not sure if it will be affected by the fact that itās a weekend. Merri isnāt doing very well at the moment sheās really worried about her hips etc and we canāt get anyone to do physio or get the scan done because of COVIDĀ
That's a worry @Yviestevie, I hope it's either negative or she only has it mildly.
@Dovefromabove I haven't heard of a charity like that and I haven't time to do anything else. England is a country of charities, France far less.Ā
I keep being a bore going on about the skip but it's filling my life at the moment. 20m3 is a lot to fill and there is 40-50 years worth of rubbish here. I found old record players in the sheet cupboard, OH must have put them there. I am aching!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Yviestevie hope that all turns out to be negative. It is such a worry.
I had two emails from school this evening within 10 minutes of each other. The first one, for information telling parents that year 11 are now self isolating for 14 days. Luckily my son is year 10.Ā The next one was my sons tracking report which they get after each half term holiday. It was a bit late but I think with everything going on I am not suprised. I was expecting a drop in grades due to the last lockdown having a knock on effect. My thoughts, as long as his effort and attitude grades were good then I would be happy as he will catch up.Ā He has maintained his grades in a few subjects and actually gone up in a few subjects and History he has increased a lot. I hope that is my input as I did a lot of history work with him during lockdown. I have an A level in it so I was encouraging him to take his work that bit further, adding more detail and referring to sources more.Ā
Oh @Yviestevie, that's the last thing you need right now, talk about it doesn't rain but pours. Do hope your daughter tests negative. Gosh @Busy-Lizzie, that's a huge skip - no wonder you ache - time off tomorrow don't you think? Obs, the chooks seem to be settling in well don't they. Daughter's cat is a bit puzzled tonight as she's not here, I've fed him and seen to his litter tray but he's retreated again to the bottom of the airing cupboard, it's warm and cozy there. She likes the house she saw earlier - now for all the paperwork.
Evening everyone. Sorry to hear about more trials of life.Ā
Pizza tonight here. Usually have something easy on a Friday.Ā
Got some craft to do this weekend. In the Spring we had bags full of hearts made for the staff and patients at my hospital. Material ones, knitted ones and crocheted ones. Sad story alert... We selected pairs of matching hearts and gave one to the poorly patient and the other one to their next of kin (by post or delivered to them in the car park). It was a way of connecting them when they couldnāt be together. We could video call the family and show them the heart. The hearts stayed with the patient, whatever the outcome for them. One patient cried when I gave him a heart to take home. We have bags of them remaining (a good thing) and we couldnāt keep them so the staff were allowed to pick some. I have a lovely selection and thought I would make some decorations with mine. The red knitted ones will make something Christmassy so I can remember those who were so poorly and their loved ones. The pretty material ones would make a nice bunting - maybe one for the work office and maybe something for my nieces so that I can tell them how good things can come out of bad sometimes.Ā
@AuntyRach you're always so positive despite everything, lots of admiration for you.Ā
@Desi_in_London , thank you for the ideas, I'll make an effort, and hello and nice to 'meet' you. š @Yviestevie , big hug to you and yours, fingers crossed.Ā @Busy-Lizzie , you are doing a fantastic job there, all by yourself too. I've heard countless stories of people buying property full of 'junk' and having to clear it out themselves, it's very good of you to get it all sorted. Amazing however, that we manage to accumulate so much 'stuff' ! I've only been in my new home for 3 years and have 'stuff' everywhere. š Busy day today, baked Christmas cakes, organized Christmas orders and managed to do 40 takeaway fish and chips - smoothly without any problems, thankfully.Ā
Now have a takeaway birthday party to cater for tomorrow, 8 people, not entirely sure it's legal, but I'm only supplying the food.Ā
Now must sleep, big hugs to all.Ā

The chooks all went to bed early this evening, all tucked up by the time I went to check, just before sunset.Ā Busy day.
