Good morning.Ā Been lazing in bed finishing a book.Ā It's dull and grey, got sunny for a while and then reverted.Ā Good planting weather for the rest of the garlic and shallots this pm.
@Desi_in_London - thanks for that recipe.Ā I have asked for a pomegranate tree for my birthday so I can make molasses as I can't get it here and my last bottle is almost finished.Ā Ā
Glad everything's still in place @Fairygirl.Ā After recent experiences I now find my sleep interrupted when it's windy.
Hugs to all and don't worry about the date.Ā It's only a worry if you're a Knight of St John.
Today was one of the days that OH had booked a flight back but it was cancelled. He has just booked one for 18th December with Easyjet, the first reasonable one available. There is an earlier Air France one but it would mean crossing Paris.
I hope it flies. It will be 3 months since I last saw him by then. The French Prime Minister has just announced that lockdown will continue past the 1st December and non-essential shops will remain closed.
F came this morning for hay for her chickens. Neither of us have been out in public for 2 weeks. She helped me with the single mattress that was upstairs that needed to go in the skip, also the heavy piano seat.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning @Desi_in_London ... good to meet youĀ Ā I love pomegranate molasses ... but I buy mine ... don't think the north-easterlies across Norfolk are conducive to happy pomegranate bushesĀ Ā
I've just pickled two jars of pretty hot chillies, and made a batch of pancakes (they probably featured in my dreams because they're on the menu for today).Ā They've been stuffed with ham and emmenthal, squeezed into a shallow oval dish, and slathered with cheese sauce ... that'll be put in the oven for half an hour this evening and served with steamed cauliflower.Ā Supper sorted.Ā Ā
The house is cleanish and tidyish ... just a quick noodle on here then I'm heading for the studio ............Ā
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Fingers crossed for you @Busy-Lizzie.Ā Ā Not looking good for getting Possum back to Belgium to pick up winter clothes but we're not telling her yet in case things change.Ā I do find it odd to see the toy shelves blocked at leclerc but you can order as many as you like on click and collect or other shops via the 'net.
Pity you can't find a home for the piano seat.Ā I spent ages looking for one when Possum was young and wanted to learn.Ā Ā
Luckily for us it's still dry with sunshine here and warm, although it looks like we had heavy rain overnight. Had our usual walk and now waiting for our SM delivery. We've had lots of substitutions. Daughter has just left to go back to see what state her house is in, pick up her winter clothes and has an appointment to view a house, which is allowable under gov. regs apparently. I'm hoping she likes it and can afford it. We'll have to wait and see. I've got a lovely old piano seat which I had re-covered in brocade a year or so ago. It comes in handy when we need an extra seat for dinner and doesn't take up much room. Hadn't realized it's three months since you saw your OH @Busy-Lizzie, that is tough. Your supper dish sounds good Dove, but I wouldn't like the calories. Just heard that Cummings is going.
Thank you, for the crossed fingers, Dove and Obelixx. The piano seat is very old and scratched and my mother put new fabric on it years ago which is coming off. It's too tall for OH and not height adjustable. It is very heavy, like a chest where music can be stored. I must get on, still lots to clear out before the skip goes on Tuesday. Now on outbuildings, skip is 3/4 full. Just thrown out ancient pipes that had something to do with the pool, a dog basket, a 35 year old bike (was late OH's) and a collection of hamster and rabbit cages. Back is starting to ache.

Isn't it great to have something to celebrateĀ
All I'm eating today apart from that will be this mug of asparagus cuppasoup so not too many calories, when it's all combined.Ā Anyway, I must've burned off a whole load during my overnight football match ā½ š¤£

ooh yum @Dovefromabove home-pickled chillies and nice to meet you too! ( No pomegranate bushes here either , I only make it just if the fruits look good enough at the market!--quite a lot of faff but I like to think is nicer than ( reasonably priced) shop bought) -- only posted it as someone had suggested they had a tree/bush whatever laden with them!
When I entertained veggie friends years ago (80s) I used to do a savoury pancake stack baked in the oven to finish it @Dovefromabove but haven't done it for years.Ā Ā We're having fish for dinner, probably a curry but maybe with bacon, lettuce and peas.Ā Possum won't be impressed either way so I did bacon, eggs and beans for lunch which makes everybody happy.Ā The dogs get the grilled rind and a poached egg.
Pomegranates do well here so it seems daft not to have one and I've ordered a guava bush too.
We have inherited a couple of old bikes in the ruin @Busy-Lizzie, one with old-fashioned drop handles and very sporty looking.Ā Ā One day I'll find a charity that can refurbish them for people who need one.
