That's good he's getting the support, although that's difficult for him re the work. A very fine line. I think it does depend enormously on where you are, which is very sad, but inevitable.
My sister's good friend has been having treatment for her cancer too, but she lives in Lochgilphead, round on our west coast,Ā  which means that when the A83 is closed [which is a regular occurrence because of the landslips] it's a 60 mile detour, as she has to get to Glasgow. It's a long journey from there anyway, and slow, even if the Old Military Road can be used. People don't always appreciate how fortunate they are when they have easy access to a hospital.Ā

  • The service from the Cenotaph seems no less poignant today, even more so in some ways, because although there are no serried ranks of the public attending, it is so very quiet ... it's as quiet as I remember Remembrance Sunday as a child, when absolutely everyone would have been quiet and remembering ... even before the Silence.

    Morning all.
I've just watched the online service from our Chaplaincy in Aquitaine, very well done. They played the Last Post, which I always find moving, and there was 2 minutes silence.

Must clean my bedroom today, including under the cushions of the sofa that is going in the tip. Just had a lookĀ Ā I'd rather the couple coming to load the skip didn't see itĀ O_o

Greetings Forkers.   Mostly cloudy here but with bright sunny spells and no rain.   Not seen any news yet.   The boats for the Vendée Globe race will be crossing the start line at 1pm (noon UK) so we have French TV on to see that.   It was gloriously sunny for them as they left the port to get to the line but is now turning foggy along the coast and there is an impressive line of solid, dark grey cloud along the horizon inland.

Be careful @Pat E - no exertions when OH is AWOL and I agree he needs to stop doing things for the others.Ā  Time for younger folk to take on the responsibilities.Ā  Cosmos is a funny boy - his previous attempts at catching birds have involved lying under the bird feeders waiting for one to fall in his mouth.Ā  Ā Needless to sat they have his measure and aren't at all bothered by his presence now.Ā  Ā The chooks will learn to say Boo!

Glad your son is being well cared for @floralies and hope he makes a full recovery even if it's slow.Ā  Same to his wife.

I really don't understand such bad behaviour @Fairygirl - never seen anyone being rude to SM staff and hope your girls are OK.Ā  Ā

I hope your ash appreciates the efforts being made to keep it safe and healthy @Dovefromabove .Ā  There are always some small birds flitting in and out of ours, buzzards and raptors perching and even a magpie nest this year tho it didn't get finished.

They've just announced a 20 minute delay to the start while the fog disperses which gives me time to get washed and dressed.Ā  Been schlepping in my kaftan and slippers.

Morning all, I'm having a lovely lazy morning here, still in bed with a coffee. Firework display went off well, particularly the rockets, we even had sparklers! Haven't had those since my children were small. Enjoyed dinner as well, smoked salmon starter, sirloin steak, mushrooms, tomatoes and chips, followed by a tarte citrone with cream - plus fizz. OH's favourites.
Now I've got to get up and do some housework, we thought it more convenient today as daughter is working from the dining room table (better internet connection) all week. Good idea to look under the sofa cushions BL, I must do the same.
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

A difficult year for all those who would normally be fundraising etc for Remembrance Day. I did an online donation a while ago, and although I have a brooch, I always put money in a box/tin when I'm out. I hate to think how much less will have been raised this yearĀ  :/
I don't understand it either @Obelixx, and it happens regularly, not just during this virus. One of the other young girls on a checkout had a rude customer hurling abuse at her recently about nothing, and the manager had to step in. We live in a 'well off' area, and next to one of the wealthiest suburbs of GlasgowĀ  - it isn'tĀ  the people that most folk assume it would be that causeĀ  bother. There's a certain 'attitude' that prevails.Ā  Ā :|
    Ā
Still raining here, so I'll probably just have to shove on the waterproofs, as it doesn't look like it's clearing any time soon.Ā

Hi Folks,Ā  Lazy day planned here.Ā  It's dull and miserable outside but I'm feeling OK today, think the US result must have cheered me up.Ā  No sure whatĀ  I will be up to but not going to garden as I did a lot yesterday.Ā  Finished Gabriel's jumper last night and have ordered some more wool to knit the boys a cardigan.Ā
Take it easy @Pat E it's amazing how our mind still thinks we can do the same things now as we did 20 years ago and is suprised when our body reminds us we can't.
Hope you manage to save your tree @Dovefromabove My Bestie is feeling a bit upset at the moment as her new near neighbours have cut down 3 perfectly healthy trees that added to her borrowed landscape. Ā  I have removed some in the past myself but only leylandii which I regard as overgrown hedges rather than trees.

    Afternoon all.

I’ve been waiting for the mist and fog to lift, but I don’t think it’s going anywhere today. Ā I will venture outside for a potter now, then back in to start the casserole cooking marathon - Ā chicken one for tonight, beef one for tomorrow and will divide to freeze some too. Ā

I hope you are all having a pleasant weekend. Keep cosy folks.Ā
