Pdoc, I feel for you both! In this house it would be an excuse to have what we call a John and Yoko day and stay in bed watching old movies...
  • Hiya @Wonky Womble 😊 from the looks of the weather it might be one of those days tomorrow. Thick fog all over East Anglia ... can’t see you’d hand in front of your face. Thank goodness it’s the weekend.Ā

Now I think I’m ready for bed ... night night all ... sleep tight.  😓

Yes, thank goodness, any more of Trump and I'd start screaming. What a moron.

Hi everyone. It’s a nice sunny but coolish day here, so I got into the garden to pull-up weeds and while there decided to move some tomato stakes that had fallen in a heap last summer. I did manage to move most of them but started to feel tight in the chest and heart racing, so left the rest and came in for a sit down and a cuppa. All good now, but I don’t fancy going out to finish the job. Maybe tomorrow. šŸ™„

Hubby was on the tractor with the grass cutting attachment on and attacking one of the paddocks below the house. No good trying to get his attention and asking for help to finish the job. Now, he has gone down to the fire shed to sort out some problems with people not taking responsibility for tasks such as maintaining equipment, undertaking promised training jobs which didn’t happen, etc. Ā I’m trying to get him to do less for the freeloaders since he’s not really fit enough at the moment. I expect he’ll be gone for a couple of hours.šŸ™„Ā

punkdoc, sorry about your problems. Ā Isn’t it always the way, that if one thing goes wrong, everything else piles on.Ā

Lizzie birthday wishes belatedly for Hubby.Ā

Loved your spellchecker’s solution, Dove. šŸ˜‚. Our paddocks are purple with Echium at the mo. One of the reasons Hubby was slashing earlier. The trip to Canberra on Tuesday, Ā highlighted how bad it is this year. That spring rain has stirred up paddocks everywhere.

Obelixx, I’d have loved to see Cosmos pretending to be a cattle dog with the chooks.Maybe they’ll learn to stand up to her, although I doubt it.

We’ve discovered a lovely frozen pkt of NZ Hoki in Woolworths. It has two good sized fillets (no bones) in wholegrain crumb. Ā Delish. Ā I’ll be getting more of that one. I’m not keen on orange fish. My favourite after living in Darwin for 13 years was Barramundi. It was caught locally up there from the Darwin wharf as well as the various rivers around the area.Ā

Might relax for a while this afternoon. Ā Hopefully the tv news will settle down a bit now that Biden has acknowledged the vote. I still don’t understand why someone hasn’t shot Trump, especially knowing how gun crazy they are over.  😳

    enough! Ā Sleep well all.Ā

Morning all/afties, evening @Pat E. You've been busy. That doesn't sound good though. Please look after yourself - and hubby too. You're not as young as me rememberĀ  ;)
I'm surprised no one's found a grassy knoll either. His torches and pitchfork supporters were apparently thronging earlier in the week too. Armed, of course. We love to complain here, but at least we haven't descended to the levels they have over there.
Hope your OH enjoyed his day @Lizzie27 .Ā
That's a drag @punkdoc. We were without a boiler for a week in January when we moved in here. You just have to manage with heaters and kettles though.
The fog eventually went yesterday afternoon here and we had a little bit of sun until it clouded over again. It's already warmer today [ 6 degrees ] than it was all day.
I had a nice enough walk, but I'd hoped to get one of the little hills once I'd gone to the cemetery, but with the fog not lifting, I decided against it. The Campsies were still shrouded anyway by mid afternoon when I drove over,Ā  so it would have been too late. The usual idiots with no lights on.... :|

Morning Fairy. I’ve had a very quiet afternoon lazing on the lounge chair. 😁

  • Good morning all 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
The fog Ā seems to be clearing a bit here ... @Pat E take it easy for a few days !!! We said so!!! šŸ’‚ā€ā™€ļøšŸ’‚ā€ā™€ļøšŸ’‚ā€ā™€ļø Tell Hubby that the others won’t pick up their responsibilities until he stops doing it for them.Ā

The big ash tree is to be pollarded tomorrow ... I will really miss all the birds ... there was a Jay hopping around in its branches yesterday when I was in the studio ... but there’s no alternative ... it’s on a bank and top heavy, Ā and now the chalara is affecting its health it’s just not safe to leave it as it is. 😢. I do hope that the pollarding gives it a new lease of life for a few years at least.Ā

The Under Gardener has cleared bird feeders etc away from the area and made sure that there’s room for the men to take the brash out to the shredder/chipper. I think I’ll pop a note to our newly widowed neighbour to warn her that it’s likely to be really noisy here tomorrow.Ā

Bummer @Dovefromabove, but as you say, maybe it'll keep it going for a few more years. We have tons of ash trees here. There's a very old one up at the farm, and if you walk that way in spring, while it's still bare, it looks quite dramatic against the sky, especially on days when the clouds are black. I must make the effort to take a camera next year, or even during winter, when the effect would be similar.Ā
