Just seen my daughter's cat (which came home with her) sitting on the windowsill watching a tiny goldfinch sitting on the terrace wall opposite, watching him, just a metre apart. We've bought the cat a harness so she can at least take him for a walk in the garden for fresh air - hopefully. Did an hour's exercise raking leaves off my borders and the lawn with the help of OH and his blower. The new 2nd leaf bin is nearly full. US election is turning into nail-biting stuff. Shame about the beam @Obelixx but at least your builder chappie sounds as though he knows his stuff. Hope @Busy-Lizzie is safe on the tractor mower.
It was brilliant wasn't it @Allotment Boy? A superb adventure, moving, heart rending and uplifting, and very thought provoking too. Very little sun here apart from the short spell this morning, but it's been very warm, managed to sneak into double figs, and we had a fabulous pink streaked sky just when I was coming in at half four. No wind which is what makes a huge difference here.
He was superb @Dovefromabove. I thought Butterflies was one of the best 'sitcoms' ever on TV. It was decades ahead if it's time, and his character in Reggie Perrin was perfection. What a cast in both of those
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Yes thanks, @Lizzie27. Around an acre mown, rough bits and garden lawny bits all done and I'm still here There was a panic moment when it wouldn't reverse but that was because the brake lever hadn't released properly, just needed a manual push.
That's good to hear @Busy-Lizzie, it's a bit of a worry when you are on your own. My children and OH have now forbidden me to go up ladders if there's nobody around, although I don't think I would now due to fear of falling (I have osteoporosis).
Pleased with progress in the garden, but have my blinkers on, if I look too far around it all becomes overwhelming, steady away and all that. 😊
I loved Butterflies too and As Time Goes By. Age 93 though, one can't complain at that I suppose. I thought it was very sad about Louis from Bake Off, he was only 48 or something.
Christmas cake and pudding making over the weekend, I've got a lot ordered but can only manage two cakes a day so need to get cracking. I just haven't got the oven space. Something to focus on anyway.
Good luck with the insurance @Obelixx, sounds promising with your chosen expert at least.
Right, a well earned glass of wine beckons and I'm hoping to finish my current Rebus book this evening.
Have a good evening all. 🍷

It has been a while since I have been on here. It is lovely to be back.
I have had a fortnight's annual leave from work. This time last year, we went to Tenerife for some late sunshine. I cannot believe it was a year ago, feels like it was closer than that. I return to work on Monday. It has been a busy, busy couple of weeks until yesterday when lockdown started.
Earlier in the week, I went to my local garden centre. They are closing down for 2 weeks so they had a plant sale on. I could have gone mad and bought the whole place up but I was very well behaved and got some bare root wall flowers and some winter bedding plants - they were a bargain 50 for £5!!
Some of you may have noticed, I put a post on the boards about making leaf mould. We have had quite high winds recently and I think the wind direction has meant that we have got a lot of leaves from neighbouring trees. I now have a few black bin liners full of leaves at the bottom of my garden.
Sounds to me like you have the same problem I had when heading out to garden for a bit or for a day so I recommend the lunar calendar to keep you focussed. Today, for example, limited hours outside but I achieved my goal of planting flowering shrubs despite the distractions of dogs, chooks and so many other jobs to do and dreams and plans for the rest.
Didn't do fish for dinner. T'other pair voted for duck legs which I slow roasted and serve with gingery mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli. Hake tomorrow then but don't tell Possum! She thinks she doesn't like it.

Hello @star gaze lily, good to see you too.
Sad about Geoffrey Palmer, at last someone I have heard of. Really liked his acting. But he did well getting to 93.
I really liked Geoffrey Palmer in Butterflies.
