Hello @PurpleRose. I posted last night but the post didn't go and this morning my hello to Purple Rose is still there waiting to be posted, don't know where the rest went!

    Morning all.
I like white fish but it does depend a bit on what you do with it, mustn't be overcooked and seasoning is important. Parsley sauce needs good seasoning too, @Dovefromabove's sounds lovely, it's what I do too. I also add a bit of a vegetable stock cube, plain white sauce is a bit dull. Plenty of fresh parsley is essential.

After some nice sunny days it's now cloudy and rain is forecast for this afternoon.
I had organised the skip for next week as the forecast was for sun all week, but now it's changed and there will be quite a bit of rain. Bother.

I will be ironing in front of the TV this afternoon, watching recorded programmes. Lots of duvet covers and pillow cases after the family visits.

Morning all, I'm still in bed, waiting for OH to finish showering. It's his birthday today so I stuck a candle on top of his weetabix this morning to make him smile when he woke up. Presies will be opened later when we're all up and dressed. Lots of liquid ones, judging by the wine bags I've hidden. Not sure what we'll do today, it's warmer but with thick cloud all around. Forecast is dry though for the fireworks tonight. He's quite excited!
Not much change in the US results yet I see.

@Busy-Lizzie that has happened to me before 🤣🤣

It's a lovely morning here this morning. Quite hazy in the distance, it was rather foggy last night so was pleasantly surprised when I pulled the curtains back this morning to see such bright sunshine.

Been a lazy morning this morning. I am still in my pjs 😮 but I am enjoying chilling out for a bit. I have been online getting seed ideas for next spring. So far I have decided on Eryngium and Echinacea. I will also be growing seeds that I have collected from around the garden this year too. I like a variation each year, I think it keeps it interesting.

    Have a lovely day all
  • @Busy-Lizzie  :)  my other tip for a good white sauce is to use a pinch of celery salt rather than plain salt to season it .... and of course you know how very good the fish fresh from Southwold Harbour is. 😋

    Many Happies for @Lizzie27 's OH 🎂 🍾

Good morning.  It's mild and grey here and the radar shows some heavy rain is on its way up the west coast after dumping on @floralies.   I'm waiting for Possum to get moving so we can walk the dogs before a cooked breakfast/brunch/lunch.

We had slow roast duck legs in the end last night so white fish today.  Lots of it here, being by the coast and with fishing ports like les Sables d'Olonne and St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie nearby plus oyster and mussel beds.  Never ever serve it with a white based sauce.  It gets baked or grilled or goes in gratins or curries or Spanish or Mediterranean style dishes.

Salmon, on the other hand, is not native here so it can be hard to come by good stuff and for some reason they never scale it before filleting it so I always have to skin them.  When I see it at a decent price, I buy a whole fish and sort it out myself and that gives me the tail pieces for doing Joyce Molyneux's medieval period style baked salmon in pastry.  Yum!

Hope everyone's OK today.   Happy birthday to @Lizzie's OH and anyone else celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.   Hugs for people feeling low.   Well done @WonkyWomble and cat.

Hello all, blowing a Hoolie down here this morning, the rain hasn't reached here yet @Obelixx. OH has been out weeding the borders this morning but has ignored the one covered in Chickweed, I wonder why  :#
Daughter should have been going off to Australia today to visit friends for three weeks - that was when she had a job and it was part of her annual leave. It's not likely to happen at all now as she has no job and income apart from her job seekers allowance.

Morning all,  The 'black dog' has been glancing my way over the last day or so but I shooed it away and got myself in the garden this morning.  Have emptied the last of the summer pots and cut down the dahlias.  Also thinned out some foxgloves in the top border and cut back some Japanese Anemones that had gone over.  Cleared some weed and leaves from the pond.  All this is very well but I went out to plant Daffs!! they will just have to wait for another sunny day I'm afraid.  We have two more green bin collections and enough rubbish to fill about 6.  I feel a trip to the tip coming on before the winter.  Stay safe everyone.

Maybe it passed by @floralies - looks pretty wet to me on this but with some holes - https://www.meteo60.fr/radars-precipitations-pluie-france.php  Sunny here at the mo.  Can't decide whether to sew or go and do wome weeding.

Have been out with Possum to walk the dogs.  It was very warm!  Clever going at middayish as France is having its lunch so we don't meet anyone else doing their daily hour of exercise and can let them off the lead to run.  Bonzo gets a bit excited and bounces when he sees people and he does love a good long gallop.

I shall go and say hello to the chooks while I decide what to do with myself today.

Most of that passed us by @Obelixx, we had a little rain but not much. Being so close to the mountains can make a big difference to our weather one way or another, but I see you are quite wet!

Not yet @floralies.  Had a dribble and it's gone dark early and feels heavy.  Should be here in 15 to 30 mins.

I have been to check the chooks and found Cosmos in sheep dog mode - herding them all together then separating one out.  We have had words.   Water and bedding all cleaned and refreshed and food topped up and a third egg today so I think I'll make some lemon curd.  And maybe put some on a pav for tomorrow's dessert.

Best go and get some more lemons before it pees down.
