Hi everyone.  The weather has been lovely today. More heavy duty earth and gravel moving here, but it’s looking good so far.

  • Hello all,

Tied up with a lot of stuff at the moment, a bit fed up too, but bought some plants to cheer myself up, trying to stay positive. Sun is shining today too, that helps. ☀

I saw this plant in a roundabout plantation does anyone know what it is, rather lovely?

Best wishes to all, especially those having wobbles...

    Hi DD

It is Leonitis leonitis, a lovely tender annual.

Hello everyone.  I hope you are well and not being drowned, blown to bits or otherwise knocked about by life or weather.

That's a good looking plant @D0rdogne_Damsel, sort of a cross between phlomis russeliana and monarda.   Hope your troubles causing the "fed-ups" are soon resolved but frankly, if it's staff being daft, get rid.   There'll be plenty of HORECA people available to replace them and keen to work and practise their English.

@Busy-Lizzie sometimes OHs can be a menace.  I have been otherwise engaged with Possum, hens, patch homework, storm Alex repercussions etc so not doing any active gardening for a couple of weeks.  He decided to "weed" the new bed I planted next to the party barn and now one of my clems has just one stem left.   It's a Jan Fopma which had put up several new shoots around its base since I planted it out.   He swears he looked but what's the point if he doesn't see?

Sunny bits here too so I'm dragging Possum off to a beach this pm.  Never know how much more sun we'll get wile she's here and no decision yet as wto when she's returning.  Maybe this coming week.  Maybe the week after.  A lot depends on the Covid situation too as I can't quarantine for 2 weeks in Belgium.

Have a lovely day @chicky. Nice to celebrate that. All the best people are born in October  ;)
Agree that October people are the best!

Just done some virtual craft with my neiece - making Hegdehog pictures with Autumn leaves 🍁
Time to do the shopping drop for the parents soon.

Hope you are all ok and have a pleasant weekend.

I have been known to be foraging around in the compost bin and bonfire heap to find plants that have been dug up as "weeds"   :o

He doesn't dig @floralies.  He pulls them out by their "hair" and then hoes.  Hopeless.

    I'm glad I'm single  :D
How are the chooks doing @Obelixx?
Hope the beach was suitably cleansing and bracing. Been quite nice here - strong breeze, but good for the washing.
I've been doing a bit of potting up - some little cyclamen seedlings which have been in little pots for a while, and planting a couple of things in the path.

@AuntyRach - hope you've got some decent cake lined up for yours  ;)

The chooks are fine thanks @Fairygirl.  Unsurprisingly, given their move to a new home and then the tornado roaring thru we've had very few eggs this week but they are much more relaxed about coming outside and exploring their pen and pecking and scratching.

Only 2 so far who know what the perch is for so I've given them extra boxes so they can snuggle down in the straw - need the extra warmth at night as they are still quite bald underneath.

The beach was great - rocky bits and wide sand and sunshine and purple seaweed and lots of dogs having a ball.  Didn't take ours but Possum and I had a good long chat and she's starting to get her head together a bit more.   Probably staying another 2 to 3 weeks as she can attend lectures remotely and also work with contacts at the museums too and by then she should be in a much better state and also back again for Xmas and R&R.
