My back grass is on mostly gravel with only a tiny amount of soil to counteract the rain we get @Lizzie27, so it pays off. It won't grow to any extent now, so that's it until spring. The front was done about ten days ago, and it won't be done again either. I don't have to walk on it, especially now that I've collected the sloes for my sister.
There's no way I'm getting a new phone. Getting away from technology is what I like! I avoid people and shops, restaurants etc as much as I can anyway, so I don't think I need one  :D
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Glad there's some good news @Yviestevie.

I think I'll get a Smartphone when I move house. Signal here is feeble so it never seemed worth bothering about before.

I've been doing more clearing out, same old. Thirty years of stuff hidden in a big house is taking a long time to deal with. Found a load of ancient shoes in the bottom of a wardrobe. My feet have grown, the shoes used to fit once and now they are too small.

No need for a new phone here either @Fairygirl - only one bar of signal at best at home which means half of what is said is missed and I have a proper phone and email for decent communication.   Don't do Twitter or Instagram and send few texts as it's slow with one finger.  On the rare occasions I do use it for photos I have to get OH to email them to me.

We now have all the bigger pots of plants moved away to a safe distance - in theory - and some placed in what may be their final positions before going in the ground.   Just a few barrow loads of small plants in trays to shift now.

Went to put the hens to bed just now as it's almost dark and they were all inside. On other days I've gone down half an hour earlier and Madame! plays hard to get.  This evening there were 3 cuddling up on 2 of the nest boxes and 3 more cuddling up at the top of the ladder up to the perch.  Maybe they'll make it to the perch by Halloween.  Lots of lovely trilling to each other about how worrying I am.  Oh well.  Maybe that'll end by Xmas.

Fairy, that's funny we watched "Close Encounters" last night, oh, and talking of Shetland, Mark Bonnar! Brad Pit improves with age, he's what 50 something now, looking good on it.  Very good news Vyviestevie

    Hope you’re getting a good soaking @Pat E ☔️☔️☔️

College for me today .....think today’s topic is leaves 🍁🍂🌿🍃

Had a productive day yesterday doing a mini GH clearout.  Also helped Mr C sow some new grass seed (by Hadrians wall) ......did the “raking to a fine tilth” bit for him.  Plus picked loads of apples - its been a bumper year this year 👍🏻

    Happy Tuesday everyone😛

Hi Chicky. It’s lovely to hear you’re doing the horticulture studies. I was late doing mine as well. I was semi retired so was able to attend classes at the school of horticulture one day a week. Loved it all.
