I worked with someone who was a real fan of Prince (& he loved a very wide range of music) he said that people in the business that knew what was what, would say prince was even better than Hendrix.
I also had a wee thing for Richard Dreyfuss. One of my favourite films is The Goodbye Girl, and I had to eventually find the clip from it to show the girls, because it's a thing I often say. I don't like washing hanging on radiators, hence " I don't like the panties drying on the rod" is oft quoted by me, from that film. You could never tire of watching Butch Cassidy or The Sting @raisingirl. I had a friend who adored those 2 films, and was always quoting lines. We chuckled ridiculously all the time at her saying 'that's a very nice lookin' piece'.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Allotmentboy your friend was right, I saw him live twice and the skill, professionalism and she enjoyment Prince got from preforming is second to none...I urge anyone who loves music to explore his work. Raisingirl, I get the feeling we are around the same age and wishing we were 27! Dove.....2 days solid rain.... its not been fun!
Leave Richard alone and it's definity Paul over George and I loved Brian Ferry. Never could stand George Clooney but top of the list is Timothy Olyphant, Patrick Dempsey and a youngish Clint Easwood. If your talking guitarist I'm afraid its Clapton everytime. As for voice Harry Connick Jnr makes my toes curl.
I wouldn't say I had a thing for him, but given a choice between Patrick Swayze in Ghost and Richard Dreyfuss in Always, I'm going for Richard Dreyfuss MUCH better film a much better actor. And I'll chose Holly Hunter rather than Demi Moore while we're on the subject.
@WonkyWomble I have never been a fan of Prince - he's written some great tunes but I don't get on with his lyrics a lot of the time. So I'd never really listened to him play before that tribute. A bit like I think some people didn't realise just what a good voice George Michael had until he sang 'Somebody to Love' at the Freddie Mercury tribute. If you don't like a musician's usual music, you don't notice them until they play someone else's.
I bet you are @Hostafan1 - its been awful here all day but finally stopped raining about 5 pm after three whole days and nights of heavy rain. I dashed out for a short walk, trying to clear drains on the way back and then managed nearly an hour's gardening, cutting down tomatoes in the greenhouse and rescuing various drowned small begonias which I'd completely forgotten were sitting in a water tight tray outside - oops.
Prince fab in concert , also saw George Micheal, front seats at Wembley...what a privilege. My hearthrob is Pierce Morgan, perfect man and the precise James Bond. In my younger years, Cary Grant was my idol and if I was.a lezzy it would be the stunning Grace Kelly. High Society is my lovely Sunday afternoon watch xx

“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”
What a day. The forecast wasn't wrong, rained heavily all day.
Lots of flooded fields and roads .
Glad to be home
