    Thanks , you're all very kind.Ā
I always said I'd not be on those grandparents who bang on endlessly about them, so if I'm heading in that direction, tell me " HOSTAFAN !! NO!!!Ā  "

Hi folks,Ā  Sorry @Hostafan1 it's impossible not to, so you will just have to get used it.Ā  No-one on here will mind for such a georgous little fella (and I don't mean you).
Another early start here, woke at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep so read until 6 and then drove over to Secondborn's to wait for the beds to be delivered.Ā  After they arrived I waited for a gas engineer to come and sort out the central heating boiler.Ā  I've just got back home so have the afternoon to recover before going over there again tomorrow to help sort out after the removal men have dropped everything off.Ā  The boys will sleep there for the the first time on Friday. Secondborn is going to show them the house tomorrow evening after school so we want to get as much as possible sorted before they arrive.
Hopefully I'll have Wed and Thurs to myself to catch up on things here and get some deadheading done.
    Have a good day everyone.

I hope you've been well rewarded with cake and other goodies @Yviestevie.
Did you leave the weans any cake yesterday?Ā  ;)
It'll be a huge sigh of relief from you all after the 'flitting'. I've had to do it a few times, under very stressful conditions, and it takes a toll. Once they're in, it'll be better. Good luck to you allĀ  :)

It's a nightmare at the moment @Fairygirl.Ā  Luckily the boys have no idea what is going on and are very happy, they are very young and hopefully will be able to accept having two homes.Ā  So far there have have been no arguements or unkind words in front of them.

  • We are big fans of Australian Bodycare products ... smashing stuff if you have skin that gets sore bits (under boobs and other bits and bobs if you get my drift) as well as other skin irritations Athlete's foot, flaky scalp etc.Ā  It's not cheap but a little does go a long way.Ā  However I was decidedly miffed when the pump action thingummy stopped working the other day on a nearly new one ... we twisted and fiddled and did all we could think of but nothing worked so we had to remove the top to use it ... and of course it's not easy to prevent water getting into the container and diluting it when you're in a steamy shower and manipulating both the bodywash container and a foaming loofah ... so I emailed them on Friday ... this morning I got an apology and a Ā£30 voucher code so I can buy another bodywash and something else as a present from themĀ  ... think that's really good customer service ... I've ordered two more thingummies of bodywash.Ā

I've had quite a busy morning, doing a bit of a tidy up and sweeping sort of thing,Ā  ... also chicken thighs have chuntered in the oven in a mix of celery, onions, peas, carrots, herbs and white wine .... now the meat has been deboned and cream added to the sauce...and a batch of 50/50 wholemeal shortcrust pastry is resting in the fridgeĀ Ā ... later this afternoon a pie will be made.

I've also ordered a set of new wiperblades for the car. I used to be able to fit them myself ... I expect I still canĀ thumbsup

It's often difficult to 'bite the tongue' in front of the children, but it's often the only way. As they grow, they'll get to realise many of the ins and outs themselves. I had seen parents hurl insults at each other in front of their children, and I vowed it would never happen to mine.
Halfords do a wiper fittingĀ Ā [as well as other bits and bobs] for a fiver or so, which is very handy @Dovefromabove. The reasonably local one to me shut down a few years ago, which was a great shame. It was great if a bulb had gone, and the guy could do it inĀ  a fraction of the time it would take me.Ā

  • I did think of going to Halfords @Fairygirl, there's one on the ring road ... but they don't always have someone available to fit stuff and you have to hang about, not something I'm keen on at the moment ...

Many moons ago I worked for a while at a garage that prepared racing sports cars and hot rods and although most of my work was office based it was amazing what stuff I absorbed ... although I've a feeling that getting me to clamber into a car that was up on the hoist to pump the clutch might have been something to do with the fact that it was the late 60s, I was 17 and wore mini skirts 😵

If I can't fit them and OH can't then son will be coming by before too long ... he will definitely be able to do it if I swallow my pride and askĀ  ;)

Good point. I wouldn't want to be hanging around either. The chap did a light for me once, and he was so helpful. I actually emailed them to say how good a service it was and how nice the chap had been. I had to go back a while later [maybe for a wiper!] and it was the same bloke. I told him I'd contacted the company because I was so pleased.Ā Ā 2 minutes of my time to email [and I think it's important ] and a fiver to get something fitted - brilliant. He said they never bother to let staff know when anyone gets in touch.Ā  P*ss poor.Ā

OH fitted new wipers for my car recently, they sell them in Leclerc supermarket. Good luck fitting them, Dove.

About to go and tackle the big pile of books on my chest of drawers and the two bags of second hand ones on the floor of my bedroom. We have a lot of bookshelf space here but I've run out and there will be nothing like the space in the new house. Here there are built in book shelves on the study walls and it's a big room.

I am filthy and weary but we have managed to clear enough of the cave to get out the dresser thingy which has been duly cleaned, scrubbed and oiled and hoiked upstairs - wrong shape, bit big, stairs to a 180° turn in the middle so a bit stressful - and OH has been to the dump with stuff.    Two more level concrete steps made for shelving and everything back in again till we have time to sort it properly.

OH now walking the doggies while I go and fetch a big potful of tomatoes for cooking down.Ā  Ā It can simmer away while I get clean.

Possum has got her new tenancy contract signed and delivered and will get the keys in 2 days' time which means we can get the movers in on Saturday.Ā  I'm off to Namur on Thursday so we can raid Maastricht market on Friday.Ā  Fabric!Ā  And a proper Asian supermarket full of things I can't buy here or in Namur.

Good luck with your sorting @Busy-Lizzie .Ā  Ā 6 big boxes of Possum's books came back with OH and are now stashed in her walk-in wardrobe except for my cookery books which are back on the shelves in the kitchen.

Hope all goes well for your daughter's move too @Yviestevie and that she is happier for it.

Remains of rabbit with bacon and prunes for us @Dovefromabove with curly kale and Swiss chard from the garden.Ā  We had courgette fritters for lunch but it looks like the courgettes are winding down now.Ā  Ā No rain.
