Was this the thread where people rubbished the BBC? I've just enjoyed a Monday night quiz fest. I answered the odd question and am looking forward to next week.. My maths isn't up to working out ( ie can't be bothered) how much this day's viewing cost me but I suspect it was less than the cost of a bag of chips -Â if it wasn't throw in a double shish with extra salad. We curmudgeons can have open minds
Just seen a trailer of the programme Who do you think you are, Â Great horrific exclamations from someone whose ancestor was a grave digger.
With  tongue in cheek  we took offence to that,  having been grave diggers we felt it was the most important part of the funeral,  the grave nicely dug, all be it artificial  grass covering the spoil,  the grave filled in with dignity, not bunged in with a digger, the mound neat and tidy with the flowers arranged in the right order.  The ground left spotless.Â
It’s the last thing that can be done for a loved one,  grave diggers need to have a bit more thought given to them. We dug graves by floodlight, in pouring rain, frozen ground, dug the snow off first. Every one dug by hand,  Dartmoor rocks being moved with ropes and she is horrified that her relation was a grave digger. They don’t know they’re born these days😀
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.Â
What do rich and powerful people always think that everyone else has the same benefits they do?
Isn't Trump just doing a Marie Antoinette? How can a man, who can get a test at a drop of a hat, gets the results within nano seconds, has a medical centre in his 'house' (with an operating theatre) and has access to the best and personalised medical team, equipment and medicines - preach to others about how dangerous the virus is?
I despair. I think all leaders should only ever have access to services etc that the poorest of their people can access. Would Trump be taking photo opportunities if he still hadn't been able to source a test? If the results had taken days to get back? If he couldn't afford the insurance to then get the treatment?
Lyn, don't forget we are talking about the reaction of a 'luvvie', so over reaction should be taken as the norm.
On another subject entirely... Adverts which claim "Up to 100%" are utterly meaningless. Nothing can be more than 100% (apart apparently from the effort some people are able to give), and adding 'up to' means the lower end can be 0%. So what they are really saying is it may work and it may not.
I think this will go down in history as being worse than that. Trump is now closer to being the next Hitler than an Antoinette (or a mango Mussolini as some say). On the same day he tells people not to be afraid around 1000 people in his country will die from it and their relatives will be saddled with the medical debt for years to come. People will lose their jobs, homes and family members for months to come and yet people still hold parades for him and praise him for making the country great again. But as the man said "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.". Now he's wilfully putting people at risk of catching Covid from him and proving them right.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
