The blood gatherers always have trouble finding my veins.  I think they see the needle coming and dive for cover.  There is only one nurse at our practice who can always find the vein at the first attempt.

I just took the kids out for a walk at the local nature reserve. The carpark is small but adequate if people park sensibly. Sadly today this wasn't the case and three cars were taking up the space that six or seven could fit into. This made me think that car parking is the perfect Covid analogy.
If you have an open carpark and let people park how they want in the hope that they have the sense to think of others then you will find that most of the time people park neatly and all is well. Sadly there will always be a few that park over two or three spaces that cause problems, and that inevitable person who parks blocking the gate for the footpath for some reason.
So the council come along and paint some parking spaces in the best way they can to make sure people know where to park and don't block the gate. This works well but the lines are a bit close together for some peoples' liking or they think they know better, or just don't care, and park over two spaces, or assume because the carpark is empty and they'll only be a minute anyway that they can park perpendicular to the lines. There's always that one person who parks too close to the lines and everyone has to move down as a result. And that guy still blocks the gate...
So they put up more signs or maybe invest in a traffic warden to enforce the rules. Now everyone has to pay to park to cover the cost even though the person parking across the lines still does it because they just sit in their car smoking and drive off if the warden comes by. The guy blocking the gate gets a fine but still parks there on a Sunday when he knows it's the warden's day off.
Right now we're at the stage where the lines have been partly erased a few times and moved around for a reason no one understands, they're badly painted so no one knows where to park, someone has vandalised the pay and display machine so you can't get a ticket, the barrier is stuck so larger vehicles can't get in or out and the guy parked across three spaces smoking and playing terrible music looks suspiciously like Dominic Cummings. It's basically the situation we were in at the start that would have been fine if people just used their heads to start with :|
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I once had a procession of  8 staff come and try, and fail to remove blood from my arm once when I was in hospital.

Glad I'm not the only one!

There's no logic in car parks or parking for that matter. We've currently got a long line of 'No Parking' cones on the main road (where parking is usually allowed) to stop the school run mums from parking there for drop-off/pick up. Why? Granted, it's not the safest place as the road is very busy but that hasn't stopped them in the past. Another Covid safety measure I suspect, to stop the mums from talking to each other - heaven forbid.

They never ‘improved’ the walnut whips when they took the nut out from the bottom of it.

Nothing ever seems to improve these days. I just take the 'New and improved!' sticker to mean 'oops we found out that one ingredient may have been a bit toxic so got rid of it before we got caught and added some extra palm oil for good measure'. It's like writing 'Now less than 100 calories, same great price!' when you actually mean 'we made it smaller while still using the same size packaging so you don't notice until you get used to it.'

And the red or green jam out of the bottom of teacakes.
And when they replaced most of the fillings in chocolates with paste
Fewer calories not less but the effect is the same.

KT53 same here, when I was pregnant with my 2nd son, the phlebotomists use to get angry with ME, as though it was MY fault.  In Hospital I have had IVI's in my feet.

That's just plain ridiculous @pansyface and probably the reason why the NHS wastes so much money.
