Happy birthday Mr C - it's our son's birthday today too, 2 days after his new baby was born. His wife is one tough cookie... the only painkillers she had during her labour were 2 paracetamols. The midwife had to un-stick the baby's shoulder just before he was born, which couldn't have been very comfortable for mum or baby. We saw the baby on WhatsApp video last night, looking very peaceful (though quite like Winston Churchill!)...
Woke up with a UTI, so it's been an uncomfortable morning - and that's my excuse for looking at plant porn and ordering a lot of spring-flowering bulbs on line, to be delivered in September.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
This morning I made the bread, pricked out and potted on seedlings and young plants, and then dug some new potatoes for supper before remembering we had planned to have noodles with the salmon and spinach ... so as I wanted to eat the potatoes freshly dug rather than saved for even a day, I cut a lettuce, cooked the potatoes and we had a potato and chive salad for lunch Then I had to dash out and get the washing in 'cos the heavens decided to open again 🌧
I've posted a letter to Step-Womble for their first wedding anniversary. She's the nearest I have to a grand daughter and she borrowed my pearls to wear for her wedding ... they were from a very good jewellers and a present from my parents for my 18th ... I would have passed them to @WonkyWomble but she says she's not a 'pearl sort of girl' and they are very much the sort of necklace that should be worn around a beautiful young throat ... I never wear them now as my neck isn't slim and beautiful enough any more, so with Wonky's blessing I've written to Step-Womble giving her the pearls. I hope she likes them. Much better that I hand them on now and they are worn and enjoyed than leave them sitting in a dressing table drawer. She's a lovely young woman who has spent a lot of time with Wonky and her Lovely Hub and they're very proud of her ... she and her husband (a head of geography no less but he only looks about 18!) have just bought their first home in Brighton ... she teaches 'difficult' youngsters; children with behavioural difficulties, (some from very difficult backgrounds)and school refusers ... she loves it.
Then I finished a little painting of Southwold Harbour that I'm using as a card for Bro's birthday on the 10th. I'm quite pleased with it ... it's quite a departure for me ... not the sort of thing I usually do ... my usual work is very large semi-abstract and usually in oils whereas this is A5 and in gouache and sort of landscape ... but I'm quite pleased with it and I can do it without hurting my neck and shoulder too much which is a definite bonus

Happy birthday Mr C it's my big sis's birthday tomorrow. I have sent a card but our post here is so erratic I hope she gets it. We went 2 1/2 weeks without post, it all finally came on Friday last week. It has just reminded me that friends of ours have both had Birthdays recently they are locked down in Wales at the moment, I need to send them a message. @punkdoc & @Hostafan1 it's warm dry & sunny here as usual on the costa del N London
I like pearls as well, in fact I wore mine around the house one day last week as I suddenly remembered pearls should be worn regularly to keep their lustre. I actually have two lots, one I wore at my wedding and the replacement much nicer ones OH very kindly bought me when I lost the first necklace (or thought I had - found them months later safely tucked into a handbag!). Lovely gesture @Dovefromabove. July must be popular for birthdays, we've got five, both grandchildren, mine, a BIL and a niece. Expensive time.
I hope she enjoys them @Dovefromabove. I love pearls. And opals, proper fiery ones but neither is suitable for gardening which is what I do most of the time now.
I hope everyone is enjoying Mr Cs birthday walk @chicky. Steady as it goes @punkdoc and no overdoing it cos you've got frustrated! How's Moira?

Thanks @Obelixx. Moira is doing better now, I am encouraging her to get out more and that I am [ just about ] trustworthy enough, to be left on my own.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Good. I hope it helps. I had a bit of a trip out today which, despite being errands rather than fun, made a lovely change from being at home 7/7 even if I didn't get everything I was after. No 2 x 4 wood in DIYs here. No elastic for masks at the fabric shop. No feta or Halloumi at the SM but at least they had the luscious black riso venere I went to that one for and some red chillies.
Very few perennials at the GC and what there was had been sadly neglected and they wanted 26€ for a pinky red cordyline so my duo released from winter pots will not become 3 in a bed. I did find 3 dusky red irises reduced from 3€ to 2€ so they've come home.
Next time I go out will be just for fun and I shall drag OH out with me too.
