The heavens have opened ... OH had just got home and was on the phone to MIL so I dashed out to get the washing in ... well, that's my hair washed and my bedtime shower both done a bit early then 🚿

Popped to Ashwoods and bought Hosta Popcorn, Heuchera Obsidian for the garden and a couple of houseplants a Maranta and a spotty begonia getting quite a collection now. I've been trying to find a string of hearts but no joy. Saw one on-line but the cost was hideous and with postage on top it was just too much. Hope everyone is enjoying their day.
Grey and cool here today so picked up my most used garden tool (pickaxe) for a bit of jungle clearance. You can all add gaultheria shallon to your list of garden thugs to avoid. The damn things spread like wildfire by 6 foot long underground runners creating a dense mat of thick interlocked roots up to 6 inches down. Great for stabilising steep banks but don't turn your back on it.
I will need a still day later in the week for judicious use of weedkiller for the spots I can't dig out. It has gone through some hydrangeas and rhododendrons which I want to keep so carefully does it.
Evening. Think I’ve caught up now - sounds like a mixed bag of weather out there. It’s been lovely here today. Finished a job I’ve been meaning to do for ages - remove an old wood edging border and going to replace with some logs. I will need to even put the soil level a bit before placing the logs, but that can be for another day. Just drying hair in the sunshine before setting to work on the supper - a Biryani.
We had carrot biryani and it was very tasty - experiment that will be repeated.
I've been planting shrubs and bits and pieces and now have lovely tender forearms after wrestling a grevillea out of its pot and planting it. Spiky little number.

Still no rain here but we are off to Wisley on Wednesday & guess what (just same as when we went to Kew) there is rain forecast! I have been renovating a bit of a bare patch on the front grass, trouble is I will have to keep watering to get it to grow, I usually don't bother to water grass but the bare patch has been getting bigger by the week. Well as predicted with this mad weather I have just picked the first blackberries from the Allotment. I have to admit I was thinking they might come in June as they were in full flower in May and they have been turning colour for some time but the recent cooler nights has held them a little but they are still 2 months early.
Just watched the musical Hamilton - 🎵🎶🎶🎵 absolutely superb 🎶🎵🎶 (£6 for a one month subscription to Disney Channel for anyone interested). Then had to spend the next half hour googling Alexander Hamilton, just to check I had understood it all right. One of the benefits of lockdown has been all the amazing theatre I have seen from the comfort of my sofa. We (chicklets and me) have made a pact that once we are allowed out again, live theatre will become a regular treat in our lives. Used to go alot, but less so in recent years. Time to remedy that methinks 🎭🎭🎭

A lovely bright and still morning. OH has been asked to swap a day at work so he’s unexpectedly at home today. 😎
